Clip-in Set on Short Bob? Please help!

Post by carlablack » Mon Mar 02, 2009 3:33 pm

Hi!
Recently, i got myself 8 piece human hair clip-in set but my hair is way TOO short at the back so i cannot wear it the usual way.

The truth is, I'm D Y I N G to try them on!! Do you have any suggestion how to put them on somehow (could be updos, anything!) other than waiting for 12 months to reach shoulder-length?

Btw, my hairstyle is graduated bob with almost shoulder length on the front and 1-2 inches at the back. Plus,my hair is dense enough to hide the clips.

I mannaged to get hair extentions in my hair whan it was about 2-2.5 inches long at the back (bout 2 years ago after i decided to get rid of my mohawk) i placed them on the lower half of my head then spiked up/ puffed up with backcombing the top half at the back, whilst having my fringe and extentions poker straight.
Making my first dreads, wooooo me!

Sounds applicable; did it look natural? and how did you prevent clips from falling?? (as it's hard to tease hair that short)

That's what I do too! Admittedly my hair is a little longer than yours, but as long as your colours match well, you'll look like you're sporting quite a scene-tacular do.

Try and place the extensions as low as you can and backcomb your real hair to hell. As for keeping the clips in place, I usually backcomb the section where the clip is going to go a little so the knots keep the clip in place. If your hair is too short for this, consider a little hairspray or product to matt up the hair a bit.

Yeah it looked totally natrual, i would post a pic but it was a while ago and i have no idea where one would be now.
To keep the clips in after i had washed my hair while it was still damp i put a small amount of strong hold gel through where i wanted the extentions to be, then ruffed it up a bit. Then either left it to dry natrualy for a bit of run a hair dryer over it for a few seconds (so it wasnt totally dry) Then teased it slightly and then let it dry fully before putting the clips in.
It gave it just enough to hold onto and stayed put throughout the day :)

cherrygloom: You look so pretty!! ^^ i really cannot see where your hair ends and extensions begin :)

Verity86: Well, i tried it but to my surprize, my extensions looked extremely thin compared to my medium-length hair that was gathered on top of my head ^^; Either my extensions are very thin (they're virgin hair, never proccessed) or i have too much hair (which is also virgin :P )

If they're new wash them, I don't know what it is but they go so much thicker once washed!

I know why; dirty hair is always tidier and flatter than clean hair because when you wash, it becomes frizzy ;)

Aww thanks

I think it's more that weft comes coated with anti-tangle treatment, which - although it's to combat knots - will make the hair look flatter. Washing the weft will remove the treatment and cause the strands to rough up against each other, giving the impression of thickness. This will cause tangles though! It's a catch-22 really, you can have flat, tangle-free hair, or thick tangly hair. I tend to stroke serum through my extensions but backcomb them a little for fullness.
