Hi, apologies if this has already been posted somewhere else but I'm freaking out!
I wear extensions everysingle day, I use Salon Pro bonding glue. I usually leave them in for a few days, due to getting irritated by them and feeling restricted.
I take them out, wash my hair, then put them back in after washing them. The thing I'm worried about is loosing hair, I know you loose so much hair on a daily basis, and I have very thick hair, but the amount I loose when getting the glue out is getting scary. I've kept my eye on it, and my hair still looks fine, I've asked friends if my scalp is getting irritated or I'm getting bald bits, but it's still looking fine, my question is, if I keep up wearing extensions on such a regular basis will it eventually have an effect on my hair? I've been wearing them for a few months now, and I really don't want to stop.. but I suppose short hair is better than no hair!

Check the hair that fell out for little white bulbs. If there are bulbs, your hair is being pulled out. If there aren't white bulbs, you should be fine. If you wear the hair pieces in for multiple days at a time, it's likely just the normal amount of hair you lose daily adding up and spooking you a bit. Be sure to leave your hair glue remover on until the hair piece easily slides out and never force them out.

Yes, you're hair will start to thin out, but only if you are noticing hair loss should you start to worry. You may wanna think about giving your scalp a month to rest. Especially if you color or BLEACH(!) your hair.whorror wrote:my question is, if I keep up wearing extensions on such a regular basis will it eventually have an effect on my hair? Unfortunately this is one of the main problems with DIY extensions. Please please if you have any concerns STOP wearing your extensions for a while, and maybe think about having them professionally fitted by a qualified hairdresser who specialises in hair extensions . If you lose your hair through to much tension on your folicles there is no guarantee it will ever grow back.

Re: Hair Bonding Glue; Help!
Putting a solvent/oily substance will help the loosening of the wefts so you don't rip your hair out, however in my opinion i would make some clip ins. clips are cheap and come in giant packs and you won't have to worry about hair loss. i've been wearing extensions for years and always bond them in, in the early years i'd just pull them out and then realized how lame that was when it's sooo much easier to put hair oil, conditioner, bonding solvent, etc on your hair where the weft is, let it soak in and that should help the weft to slip out, but you could still have hair loss/breakage. the only way to avoid it entirely is clips :/

Thanks so much for the great info, really useful. I'm learning my lesson, I'm going to keep dreads installed and let me hair breathe. Thanks again xx
