Can we have a meet a little higher up in the country?? (UK)

i know people are organising meets in what i refer to as "the south" yes, i think birmingham is south, i know technically it's not. i'm in the NORTH EAST & the last meet up here was WGW in november, but i actually only saw DragonGirl & that was only cos i recognised her hair as i was walking past somewhere.

You guys look like you had fun at the london meet, but london is an 8 hour drive away for me, the train is quicker but it's a tad pricey.....so any ideas on an "up north" meet??? where i live is no good, cos there's nothing to do really. but i was thinking, maybe YORK, NEWCASTLE. etc in about AUGUST???

I'd be happy to have a meet higher up to the country.

I'd prefer Leeds, because the route there is much easier from where I am. But York isn't too much further. I'd just have to look at bus routes and stuff.

I've not been to York in such a long while. What kind of shops and stuff are there in York?

i haven't been for about 2 years - but the markets they have are fantastic! & disney shop is alwyas worth a visit....just had a look. there's yorvik, the york dungeon, & a few museums too

my mum has been to a few & had good reviews

well, if we decide on york, i'll be going by train, so we could always make that the meeting point for everyone

i'll keep suggestions opens for a day or 2 longer.....looks like it's gonna be York

How about Manchester?

Or the lakes? its very pretty in the summer.

i'm guessing you know your way around the lakes?? i wouldn't have a clue where to start

mmm. i was thinking anywhere between leeds & newcastle. York appears to be sort of in the middle - edited top post. i'll open this up for voting at the beggining of april.....keep the suggestions coming!!

the lake district is huge, but there are many pretty places. but might be difficult for some to get to?

maybe blackpool, it abit out dated, but worth an option.

i think we should have a manc meet any way, theres a fer few of us from round there?

oooo a Toon meet would be good!

im in sunderland for most of the year so if im up north in august ill come to the meet(i generally go back and forth over the summer because of having no uni)

id like to put forward Durham as a suggestion for a place to meet too

*edit* if im driving and have sorted a car out by then id be happy to give people lifts depending on where im leaving from

lol these meets always happen at the opposite end of the country to where I am.. when there's a london meet I'm at uni in bradford, when there's one further north I'll be at home in Reading!

I believe there was supposed to be a Manc meet last year, with the possibility of a mass photo shoot, but alas it didn't happen. There was a meet somewhere up in the midlands/"north" (everything is north to me as I'm right down the bottom of the country lol) I'm sure - I remember seeing photos of it on the old forum... hmm.. must have been a while ago now.

Also, wasn't there supposed to be a Birmingham meet just before xmas/just after xmas? I missed what happened with that. Will be so much easier when we have the meet sub-forum to keep track of all this hehe
