International Dread Swap **COMPLETE**

Post by brandalynn » Thu Feb 11, 2010 8:50 pm

All packages need to be in the mail and tracking numbers sent to partners! Thank you :D

Would anyone be interested in a worldwide dread swap? All sort of dreads, braids, and twists are welcome, the surveys would sort between who likes to make and wear certain types as well as who can ship where. Ideally, I would like the dreads ect. shipped to partners no later than mid-april to give everyone plenty of time. (If for some reason you are on the non performers list, please get that cleared up before joining.)

*This swap is for full sets or falls. 50 DE or 100 SE.
*People will be paired according to skill, shipping preference, and dread preference
*Everyone joining, please post pics of your work
*Everyone will receive surveys as they sign up, please send them back within a reasonable amount of time
*Whether or not sets are a surprise or specific is up to you, be sure to let your partner know
*People interested have until Feb. 20 to join
*Partners will be announced Feb. 22and everything needs to be in the mail by Apr. 20
*Everyone MUST put tracking on their package. This is not optional. Please budget accordingly
*I'll post an example survey, please do not publicly post your responses, pm them to me!
*If you have suggestions or questions about the survey, they would be greatly appreciated :)
** Average length of dreads will be about 16" or 40cm. If you would like them longer or shorter, bargain with your partner.
*If you and your partner decide on any adjustments in the swap, CONTACT ME so I know what is going on.

Are we talking full sets or kits, and will it be surprise sets or specific request?

Just out of curiosity, how will partners be paired? Will we be matched on like for like skill ability?
Normally people are asked to produce pictures of their work! :)

Just as an FYI to any US participants, shipping with tracking outside the US is going to cost $30+ to the UK (and probably more than that if shipping to somewhere such as Australia). $30 is if it fits in the medium box and hits at or under 1 pound, by the way.

Those are prices for Priority packages (6-10 days). It can get pricey, but it's the safest way to send stuff. First class mail is going to be right around $20 (that's with tracking and confirmation), but time varies. In my experience, it takes about 2-3 weeks at most. If everyone outside N. America is ok with this (each lady will of course get the tracking number for her package), then shipments to N. America can have the same time expectancy to save a bit on shipping for everyone. Anyone opposed to this, please pm me. Thank you for the heads up, Pallidity. :)

***Please don't forget that shipping confirmation (tracking) is required for everyone participating, and the tracking number will go to your partner and myself. Insurance is optional, but I recommend it.***

You can't get international tracking with first class shipping if going with USPS. Any fees charged by the receiving postal service including shipping in how they figure what the fee will be, so for example if someone in the UK gets a package from the US and it's got dreads listed as $50 in value and the postage is $30, the fees will be based off of $80. Just something to keep in mind, since most people don't know that :)
