An idea?

Post by ~Azaezl~ » Thu Aug 28, 2008 8:00 pm

I wasn't sure where to post this so figured technical was the best bet. Have you(the mods / admin) considered having a chat room for the board? Thought it might be nice to have a place we can chat live, just a thought :D

Idk, wouldn't an MSN or AIM chat room be better? I understand the want for one of these but they're usually way out of hand, and hard to moderate.

Yeah I guess it might be hard to moderate, just thought it might be nice for us all to sit and chatter live :)

Actually, I was thinking about this the other day. Several years ago we used to have a chat room on one of the boards. I'd be totally down for setting it up.

I think it would be helpful and personable.

Does a chat room really need to be moderated? If anything happens, I'm sure we can take care of it after the fact, right? Or am I missing something horribly obvious?

I can see how it can be helpful and fun. I just wanted to point out that a lot of drama and negativity could erupt in a chatroom.

I do agree that whilst fun it could cause upset. People often don't come aross the way they mean to on the internet.

I don't see any harm in setting it up so long as there are disclaimers- we really cannot be moderating this sort of thing- it is too instant for us to do anything or spot an issue instantly.

there used to be one on HH, it got used a bit for a while I think, the Frida set up an independent one which I didn't get on with very well, so I don't know how well used that was.

We didn't moderate the chat room on HH, and I don't think there were any problems, but as I say I don't think it was used that much.

Maybe we could just state some rules, but explain it wouldn't be moderated, but any issues could be reported to mods so we can make sure they don't creep onto the main board?
