Possible Etsy Art Issue?
I don't even know if this infringes on any copyright, or if the seller has permission to do this, but this picture is instantly recgonisable by anyone who has been on the fakehair scene for more than 5 minutes.

I'm not sure how digital manipulations are classed when it comes to copyright, but at least credit could have been given for the original shot.

Re: Possible Etsy Art Issue?
I got an email from this person in response to the picture:
As I was surfing around other people's artwork,
I've come cross many famous celebrity's portraits,
and I didn't even think that this would become an issue.
I apologize for my ignorance.
I've taken this artwork off my list.
She was so beautiful, and I just had to draw her.
It was just an innocent act.
Again, I apologize for my ignorance.
Is she someone whom you know?
If this upset her, please send her my apology.
If you know her, is there anyway to get in hold of her?
I'd love to get her permission.
Thank you again for pointing this out.
If you didn't, I must have carried on with more artwork
done this way.
Regards,
Mayuko

Minding the copyright issue, but this piece of art is fantastic!!!
At least the seller had the decency to remove it without a fuss or rudeness and apologise.

I always think this issue is a bit weird. If someone did artwork of me and was selling it, it'd be weird, but it'd also be flattering I'd guess. Yes, permission should probably be granted, but in general doesn't most art get inspired by things the artist has seen?

Is that me?
It doesn't look quite like me, but it does look kinda like me...
If so I am flattered and will contact her and if she lets me have a copy then she can display it. Is she selling it? That might be a little odd...

It was up for sale in her etsy shop as an original print, but following CM's message she removed the listing. Judging by her response to CM she'd probably be happy to send you a copy in exchange for permission.

Aw squidgy, you are sweet!
I am flattered, and have contacted her, she is going to send me the jpeg image to use as I wish, and also a print of the picture, and once i receive those she is going to list the item for sale again. I think this is a fair swap.
I have encouraged her just to ask people in future and that most will probably say yes.

I'm glad that you got a happy ending from this MissAnthropik, so many copyright problems don't. It is nice to see someone willing to work with you.
