..only if you're not trying to make a profit on the fabric and that you confirm you are not the copyright holder.

I wouldn't say it's wrong, morally. It sure as hell is illegal though - you have purchased the material but not the right to use the images, which is a seperate issue from what they are printed on. If a company spends millions marketing a particular image, they don't want someone else profiting from that without paying up. Again morally I and many other people agree with you, but the reality is what it is. :(
