DreadHead Claire'sExtentions (stolen photos)

Post by Phoenix » Fri Mar 11, 2011 11:10 am

Yet another one, what's wrong with people?? Actively telling people they aren't your work doesn't mean you get to use their photos for your promotion!

She must be an epic dread maker, being able to make so many different styles of dreads. Some dread makers that have been making their stuff for years struggle to do different styles.

I sent her a message explaining how unfair it is to us to use our images, especially without permission.

THIS IS NOT MY WORK, BUT I CAN DO SOMETHING LIKE IT.

Commenter 1: Oooh, it's so pretty!

Commenter 2: I want one, how much?

Artist: It's not my work, it's just an example of stuff I can do :)
I charge $$$ for something like this.

Da Vinci: THIS ARTWORK BELONGS TO ME. PLEASE REMOVE IT NOW. I DID NOT GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO USE IT, EVEN AS AN EXAMPLE.

I saw that too. Admission of photo-theft and a slight on the wherewithall of her client base in one badly-executed sentence. How utterly professional.
What, that? It's a spade.

The only way to protect your images is watermarking, & most of the pics she'd taken were water marked. The only other thing to do would be to only make them viewable to friends, but there's no guarantee that those "friends" won't steal em also, so what do you do? make it so only you can see your pics???

Can't read my info? Here it is!
My images:
They are mine. If you use them to advertise your business (including "EXAMPLES OF PRODUCT" and ebay/etsy sales), you will be blacklisted, named and shamed as a copyright violator. I do not wish to see my images uploaded anywhere I didn't upload them myself.
If you want to use them for private galleries or on the hair extensions forum for reference purposes, you may use them, but ONLY for those reasons.

I found that her wall posts can be commented on by anybody.
Her friends think it's OK to use images as examples.

I have pointed her over here, i think it was an innocent mistake, doubt she knows much about copyright laws etc... hopefully she'll make it over here and show off what she can do. I've tried to explain there's a difference between an inspiration folder and a folder of work you say you can do...

Shes said on her wall post she is ignoring private messages...

She's deleted her account now.

It's sad she felt she had to do that, if she had simply not stolen/used images and got huffy about it, it would have all blown over!

Ha ha, that just made my morning. You should make something just like that into a separate post so I can sticky it at the top of this forum. Then in future we can send the link to photo theives. It seems to be all too common nowadays that people steal pics as 'examples of what they can do'

It's sad that she felt the need to block you guys for claiming your property. Her wall is private now too. *sigh* She even has a folder of her customers, why can't she have just used that as "I can do this!" I mean really, if you wanna advertise, make a few accents of the different things you can do, take pictures and post that. Not that hard.

The reasoning from her friend who attacked everyone who spoke up about the photo theft was 'if you dread you would know to practic...e means you can do a few dreads and not do a full head, and considering supplies can be expensive for some why do a full head if its not ordered?".

That's total bull crap. She has enough pictures of her own work that she can use as examples.

maybe because launching a business requires some investments? :?
or maybe because you shouldn't only say you are so great, it might be useful to actually PROVE it.

oh...and because I KNOW she cannot do all those dread styles she claims she can.
annoying.

Her page is definetly still in existence, but I don't see any photos of Lara's so I think she took them down. It looks like the rest are hers, they're not watermarked so I don't know.

..What kind of business makes their wall private?
