Made an appointment today to get an undercut put in. It won't be for another 4 weeks, but I'm too scared to attempt it myself in case it goes wrong Will post pics once it's done

I've decided it's a bit too high for my liking in the middle, so will be regrowing some of it back.

Yeah, a straight line going across was what I wanted in the beginning, but when she showed me the parting in the mirror before cutting it, it looked nothing like it does in the pic I might get it bicced down when I can get someone to help me do it, to get it closer to how I originally wanted it, and post another pic when the rest has grown out a bit more

Yeah, it felt really nice when I shaved my entire head completely clean last year

I'm planning to install my new dreads tomorrow, but I'm worried that they might look stupid from the back with the severity of the angle it's been cut at

Heart: It shouldn't look bad at all. I have a very severe bob, which is curved up to where yours is and the bottom part shaved, although mine is a lot neater and rounded off. You don't notice the difference when the hair is tied back and when the hair is down. To be honest, I think that's a bad job considering it was done at a salon.

Yeah I think they were horrified at the prospect of doing it, because when I described what I wanted at the appointment, they looked at me as though I had 9 heads Their usual clientele is little old ladies, but they were the only ones who could cut my hair properly when I still had it halfway down my back...ah well, as people are always saying here, it's just hair, and will grow back

You could always get it straightened out now...but it'd be higher. Not really much you can do until some of it grows back.

Tempted to suggest you go back to the salon, even if it's just to whinge at the face the line isn't straight. (this is why I cut my own, no one to whinge at but me)

Yeah, hair is hair and it grows back, but you paid money for a poor service. I certainly would go back to tell them they did a poor job. If they don't feel confident doing something like that they just shouldn't. I'll admit I've bodged some hairdo's in my time, but it's never been anything so noticeable, like shaved hair. It's usually just a fringe or something and I just wing it, telling them how great it looks like that.

Of course, a fringe is noticeable, but if I cut it a bit short or cut it at an angle cuz they can't keep their damn head straight I just tell them I chose to do that for the sake of the style!

I'd be too scared to attempt cutting it myself, it probably would have gone horribly wrong, even with two mirrors

And I did think about having it all cut straight, but I really don't want it taking up any higher in the sides...ah well, never mind. I'll post another pic once I've had it straightened out a bit.

Don't do it, if you don't want it higher......even just having it bicced/shaved by someone a little higher on the competancy scale should improve to look 100%

A new pic of my undercut, after my OH shaved it a bit (please try and ignore my unbelievably shite self install )...

I'm perplexed now I've seen this, as the angle suddenly looks completely different to that in my previous pic; in fact, this one looks as it looked in the hairdresser's mirror

I think it looks loads better now though, I wanted it bicced higher than this, level with the top of my ears, but my OH said he wants to take it up in stages, a tiny bit at a time, as he's worried he'll take too much off in one go I am much happier with it now, however, and I can't wait until it's finished

I think it definitely needs to be levelled out to the top of your ears if you're doing it yourself or else it could really go wrong. It shouldn't be too hard though.

I guess I'll probably post a pic of the finished result now, might not be for another week or two, depending on how many more stages it goes through. I held a tape measure tightly against my head and my OH used it as a template to shave against, but I didn't position it quite high enough, so will remedy that next time
