Greasy Hair Cure?

Post by Miss.Wicked » Wed Oct 08, 2008 10:35 pm

For the love of...god.. does anyone know of a cure for disgusting greasy hair?

After 1 day of not washing my hair, it gets all greasy. and having black hair doesn't make it look any better.

I read that that it makes your hair brittle, that's why I haven't tried it. I've literally tried everything, from vinegar, to carrots. : /

Have you ever tried 'dry shampoo'? It's basically nice smelling talc in an aerosol, that you spray onto your hair and it soaks up the grease.

I use it for my fringe when I have dreads in... But I always use the excess when I wake up with really greasy hair and no time to wash it.

Well, it's not good to switch shampoo so much, and I've done it for the past 2 years. I figured i should wait till I'm out of what i have to to go on another scavenger hunt.

I didn't think i needed to see a dermatologist, but maybe i should?

I got mine from Superdrug which is a UK store.

But I'm sure any beauty-chemist-type store would sell it.

Most likely Sally's :] I'm reading up on dove and head and shoulders for greasy hair, I'll be getting dreads in a couple weeks so I'll definitely invest in some dry shampoo.

Yep, Sally's has several types of dry shampoos. They smell lovely!
One time I used way too much oil to remove my latex glued-in wefts and I had disgustingly oily hair for days and I couldn't get rid of it, and finally I used half a box of cornstarch and it worked great. :P

Thank you, I'm going to try Dove Volume Therapy, it's for fine/oily/ limp hair. So hopefully it works. In the meantime, I'm going to go try cornstarch.

LMK how that Dove shampoo works. I am really desperate myself. I have the driest ends in the effing world, and the greasiest effing scalp. It makes it really hard to wear dreads b/c I have to take them out about every two weeks! argh!

I just bought Dove Volume Therapy Shampoo and Dove Intense Damage Therapy Conditioner.
Volume therapy for oily, fine thin hair and intense damage for breakage and split ends.

I tried it tonight and it looks and feels amazing! so much va va voom which is very hard to get with an undercut. and it smells sooo good :] completely satisfied. I've used dove before and childish, but i stopped using it cause a girl i hated used the exact same one. I wish i never stopped.

Gads! I feel like a freak of nature - I can go for a week and a bit without washing my hair and it only ever gets a bit greasy...

I have heard if you take a Silica supplement its meant to help with greasy hair and skin?

Dry Shampoo is so bizarre to me - epic idea though!

Whenever my fringe gets a bit on the greasy side, I find that a teeny spray of hairspray and combing it out when its dry is a good cure for when you are in a hurry - mind you, you sshouldn't do it for days on end - its moree of an emergency sort of thing :)

Lucky you! My boyfriends the same way it pisses me off so much. Well as i said i bought Dove last night, i woke up today and my hair isn't greasy, so if it isn't greasy tomorrow, or even just a little bit, I'm sold<3

I cant use hairspray, flat irons, blow dryers, etc cause my heads in 'rehab' right now.

I used to have this problem before I started bleaching my hair, and the only thing that ever worked for me was dry shampoo.

I used to switch brands a lot so I cant recommend one in particular, but they were your typical dry shampoos -put on, leave on, then comb out. I used ones specifically for greasy hair though, I think.

Otherwise, bleaching worked for me >.<

I use to to have thick beautiful hair, until i started bleaching :[ then i had brittle, dry ,elastic type hair. It was so bad that i ended shaving my head into a death hawk, and then grew out my hair to about 3inches, and put dreads in for a long time, then when i took those out my hair was baby soft and thin : /, so i cut it into a undercut, cause it looked weird, and ever since I've had thinner hair, that magically is greasy. I regret bleaching so f*cking bad.
