Ahh yes, I remember that now!
Gosh, they were huge in the late 90s.

In the episode of Glee titled Home, the guy on the desk in the roller rink has very long natural dreads.

Around this time I had long off-white and various pink dreads and I used to get strangers singing pink at me! I did have mine before hers though!!Madii wrote:P!nk in her video for Don't Let Me Get Me has what looks like a natty-ish synth dread fall in blonde and pink in the latter third of the video:

Apparently this vid was made in 2002, I really wish we knew who made that fall way back around the start of this whole crazy trend.

I just watched Dead Snow (dod sno) and I think it was Hanna (one of the girls anyway) has brown synth dreads. I couldn't find a very good picture, this is the best there was:

I went as the White Witch to a film fancy dress evening!
I couldnt think of who to go as with my blonde dreads, then came here for inspiration and smacked my head on the desk a few times it was so obvious!

Re: Dreads on Film/TV
They're not dreads, but I just noticed in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure there's a guy with a kickass death-hawk in the background (images linked for size)

Don't think anyone's mentioned Kim from the Venture Brothers. Anime dreads!
Hank: Holy moley look at my date! She's a supervillian...possibly a Medusa. Dean I'm not kidding, she's got rope for hair, and a shiny costume. Aw, not fair, she's wearing goggles. Told you she'd dig my Batman suit, but no.

God, me too. I'd have done anything to be in the Spice Girls. Still would actually. I did like Fayes dreads - was pretty jealous of her hair actually!rivetlicker_ wrote:woolhairhabit wrote:At that point in time, that woman was the absolute bane of my life. I had dreads and bleached them out and got approached daily to be told I looked like her/asked if I was her! That made me LOL so hard xD (I liked Steps at one point, but she kinda annoyed me).
Actually, Denise from the Vengaboys, err, the blonde one, had some pretty neat twists in the video for we like to party.
She was my favourite in Steps. XD I watch their Christmas song just to admire her dreads.
Me too
Around the same time there was a TV programme called As If featuring a girl with cotton wraps who also drew a lot of comparisons.
Newton Faulkner's dreads are nice but I do find my fingers uncontrollably twitching towards my crochet needle whenever he's on the screen
Further to that, has anyone mentioned Heath Ledger in The Knight's Tale? And Angelina Jolie looked like some kind of angel in one film, was it Gone In 60 seconds?
I really feel like I should be able to reel off loads, but my brain is addled.
LOL, I wanted Spice Girl boots as a kid. Little did I know back then that they were Buffalo!
Back to the topic: Laurent from Twilight has some great dreads.
I'm going to try to think of some more cool hair throughout the day...

Re: Dreads on Film/TV
Also one of the first examples of falls being worn on TV, after Rimmer cuts them off while Lister sleeps! Lister fetches the dreads out of the bin, attaches them to an elastic band and puts them back on (Correct me if I'm wrong, it went something like that anyway)SuperCollider wrote:Dave Lister, Red Dwarf
Wow is it hard to find a picture of him showing dreads

Haha, that's Cliff... i used to put dreads in for him (though i havent for ages as hes in Brighton and didnt do these)... it is (or at least it was) synthetic dreads braided in, but the hair at the front is quite fine, so its harded to pack them in. Thats so cool. never knew he was on countdown.Monique_marion_may wrote:Damn you bet me too it!! lol I did watch it, and yes they are synth. Weirdly put in.. Oh! I geek out every time I watch Kickass! For a brief moment when he's walking down the hallway in school you can see a girl with a full set of Hot Pink Synthetics. I pointed it out to my boyfriend and he gave me the "You would notice that." look.
Not a very good picture, but I couldn't find a proper still so I had to grab one myself.

I don't know if any of you guys have been watching the rugby world cup... But here's our boy Ma'a Nonu who's always had dreads but at the moment seems to be sporting some kind of cool dyejob/extensions/wraps, hard to tell what!

This short film is a bit scary, in a backwoods white trash way:) But I saw a bunch of yarn falls, synth dreads, and really bad braid jobs.
I give you... "American Juggalo" http://www.americanjuggalo.com/
Aside from the sometimes disturbing content it is very well made little film.

Re: Dreads on Film/TV
This girl from Emmerdale seems to have a few synth dreads wrapped into a bun of her own hair everyday at the mo. Not sure what look the producers were going for with this character...but it looks like they are trying to make it looks like she has natural dreads by twisting the hair on her head. No body ever mentions it though!
