How to Curl Rexlace, S'Ghetti, or Loopie Cord

Post by IKickShins » Fri Aug 29, 2008 11:38 pm

What You will Need
- Rexlace, S'Ghetti, or Loopie Cord
- Rubberbands
- A steamer or a kettle of boiling water
- A dowel, PVC pipe, foam curlers, broom handle, etc (anything to wrap the plastic around to get the curl shape)

Instructions
1. If you are using a wooden dowel, wrap it in tinfoil or plastic wrap to keep water from seeping into the wood. If you're using PVC pipe, a plastic broom handle, curlers, etc, you can omit this step.

2. Use a rubberband to fasten the end of a strand of rexlace to the dowel. Then wrap the rexlace around the dowel and fasten the other end with another rubberband. Repeat until you run out of room. For this tutorial, we're using a PVC pipe and a pencil to get two different sizes of curls.

thanks for this- it will be useful for peeps!

likewise to straighten it,pour hot water over the strips and stretch tight do it flattens out- especially useful at the end of a roll!

You can also straighten long pieces by just letting them hang with something holding them straight. When I make falls with a lot of rexlace accents, I usually hang up the rexlace and hold the curly parts together with a jaw clip for a few hours before I attach it. When the pieces are long enough, that's usually enough to straighten them out.

Oooh that's very helpful.
I think I remember reading somewhere once that someone put them in the freezer right away after the hot water to set the curl, I dont know how helpful that is though, or how true hehe x3
To begin with, a dog is not mad. you see a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I am mad.

That would be really awful for your freezer too! I know people put hot stuff in the freezer/fridge a lot, but really you're not supposed to because it can defrost the foods in there.

I think this is a great tut! I've always had trouble straightening rexlace, but never had I thought to purposefully curl it :) Thankies
