How to Make Curly Dreads

Post by IKickShins » Thu Aug 21, 2008 3:07 am

What You will Need
- Dreads made from kanekalon jumbo braid
- Rubberbands
- A steamer or a kettle of boiling water
- A dowel, PVC pipe, foam curlers, broom handle, etc (anything to wrap the dreads around to get the curl shape)

Instructions
1. Make yourself some dreads, or use some dreads that you already have on hand.

2. If you are using a wooden dowel, wrap it in tinfoil or plastic wrap to keep water from seeping into the wood. If you're using PVC pipe, a plastic broom handle, curlers, etc, you can omit this step. I'm using PVC pipe for the tutorial, so the example pictures will not show the wrapping.

3. Use a rubberband to fasten the end of one of your dreads to the dowel.

Sproing! Very helpful.
For anyone reading this, the same can be done with double enders.

I would also like to add (from personal experience) that when ikickshins says boiling water, it really should be boiling, don't boil the kettle and leave it for a minute or so while you faff about doing something else, then pour over the dreads.... this does not make for very curly dreads lol :(

Yeah, be prepared to take the kettle immediately from the stove to the dreads.
