Transitionals - felting needle technique by minmar 2005

Post by dreadviolet » Wed Sep 21, 2011 7:48 am

I don't think we have this tutoarial on this board yet?
This is an easy way to do transitionals successfully without bumps and jerky transitions. This technique gives you a smooth transition.

I've always used this technique - I do some parts a bit differently than minmar, but the basics are the same.

Good ol' Minmar method. I remember not quite understanding that tutorial all those years ago, but it started to make sense when Delic did a tutorial on how to make swirled transitionals.

Give those tutorials a go! I did a video (but don't go straight to the video, try the pic tuts!!!)

(Offtopic:) Somehow I've never learned to like video tuts. I've never managed to watch any video tut very long... Pics and text are <3 ! Yes, I'm old fashioned... but I guess it's probably mostly because my first profession is editor, so all the amateur videos on youtube feel so slow and I just want to cut and speed it up. (Like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ae17T4Gruxw (guess who cut that). :ugeek:

Haha, nice!
Yes, I do agree that my videos are slow, but most are one-take or detailed enough to give a "real-time" aspect feel to people making dreads. I go very into depth in my vids, hence why so many have learnt. (I think a lot of people are spoilt for choice though...)

Using you two alone as an example, it really depends on the person. I like pictures but when it starts to get to something that I wouldn't understand without SEEING the actual movement, I get flustered. Definitely wanna try it.

I didn't refer to your videos (haven't watched them) but video tutorials on any subject in general. :) Maybe I'm bit of an ADHD on this matter.
