Pic tut. : dread lock up-do

Post by Desiree » Thu Jun 10, 2010 2:19 pm

This is an easy way to wear your dreads up. It can be spiced up with scarfs, flowers, bows or what ever you feel like. No pins, elastic bands or nothing.
This style is great in the summer if your hot, and need your har out of the way.

1: Devide your hair so you have to big sections of hair on each side - one in front and one behind your ear. The rest of the hair is pulled back.
Image

2: Take the front sections and tie them back.
Image

3: Twist the dreads in the back and put them on top of your head.
Image

4: Take the two last sections and tie them together over the other knot.
Image

5: Flip the dreads back

I'm glad you like it - actually I did the guide for the girl in the picture. I put it up for her once, and she couldn't figure out how to do it her self. So I made her the guide and wanted to share.

I'd love to see pictures if any of you try this out... The dreads need to be longish.

And I'm so happy this one does !!! CHUFFED MUCH :D ! Sorry for pic spam  !!! (if theyre cut off just drag em onto the tab bar :) )

I'm going to have to try that this summer, normally my dreads are just knotted at the back or in low bunches but that up-do looks so pretty

i dont even know how to keep hair sticks in (have not tried with dreads)! i can see it though. i can't picture this with curlies though, wouldn't they just be pulled taut when it's tied? i guess if they were really long... but i still can't visualize. do you have a picture of it?

I wasn't convinced this was going to work for me with the fact my current dreads are so long, but I gave it a try.

My new work hairstyle!

Thanks, I never would have thought of it on my own :D

I did something similar a while back, but with twisting instead :)
