I wore clip ins a lot when I had an undercut, it is possible, but you have to be more careful with hiding the wefts as you obviously have less hair to work with, when I started growing it out, I just clipped weft into the growing out bits

I had microring extensions in when I had my head shaved. My hair's fine though, so it was hard to get enough extensions in without having the rings showing. The trick was just to keep brushing them so that they didn't go stringy

You could also create a 3/4 piece!
