Straightening KK Jumbo Braid Experiment - Photos!

Post by xdnyhair » Sat Dec 17, 2011 10:35 pm

Hi everybody! I just wanted to share some photos from and experiment I just did with straightening/smoothing Kanekalon Jumbo Braid. I hope you find them helpful, even though they're kind of simple!

I wanted to try out some different methods of straightening:

Image

From left to right: Untouched KK Jumbo Braid, Jumbo Braid spritzed with water and straightened with a hair dryer on medium, and Jumbo Braid straightened with steam heat

The steam-straightened sample has a nice shine to it!

I've never worked with KK Silky Straight before, so if anybody can tell me if the texture of my straightened KK Jumbo Braid is similar or comparable to Silky Straight, let me know! Thanks for looking :)

Silky KK is a lot thicker than straightened jumbo braid, but it's somewhat close :)

Oooh, does that mean that each strand is thicker? Or that there's just more in a package?

I replied earlier, but I think the board ate my post!

I said that each strand is thicker. I guess the finer strands in jumbo make it easier to wave and backcomb, because Silky is a real turd sometimes (especially Kikko, but we now have jumbo braid alternatives).

I use hair straighteners on a low setting to straighten my Jumbo Braid. Lots of people say not to, but it's never been a problem for me. I used to use boiling water, but it was too much fuss.

i straighten my jumbo braid a lot for making naturals etc and my friend tough me to just use m hair dryer on a cool to medium setting just putting it near the hair, it has always worked for me and i feel like it backcomb's better (for naturals at least) and the tips if left loose look so much more natural hope this helps x

I use my curling iron on low to med. low. It goes alot faster for me and I get lovely results and pretty curls if the mood hits me.

Ooo! When you say you used steam, how exactly did you apply the steam?
