attach a weft with micro-rings?

Post by DrowningBoys » Tue Jan 25, 2011 11:17 am

I have been using clip in extensions for a while, but i'd like something i can keep in my hair for a little longer, so I thought about using micro-rings.

Due to being a student I have a low budget but still want my hair to look good, so I figured, since I already have human hair wefts, that I could attach the wefts I own into my hair using micro-rings and have them last a little longer than clip ins.

I think doctoredlocks(?) has a tutorial on one way of adding weft with micro-rings but I don't personally want to do it that way if i can help it.

I found this video on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jf4MIx0d ... re=related

And I was just wondering about a few things,
If I use the method in the video, is it safe for my hair (I have thick hair), as I remember once someone mentioning that the weft held in by just a few hairs puts lots of pressure/strain on the hairs keeping it in? But could this problem be solved by simply putting in more micro-rings with each weft to ease pressure?

Thanks for any help in advance, it is much appreciated!

I've had good luck with sewing microlinks on to a weft every two inches or so, and then installing similarly to the method you linked to, only it seems a bit more sturdy. It's definitely not as sturdy as DoctoredLocks, but if you're working on yourself it's not as complicated!

Did you just sew them onto the weft, going through the micro-ring and back through the weft (if you kow what I mean?) Yeah, I'm trying to make it quite simple.

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but it sounds close! you can either sew them on the outside (easier) or inside (more challenging, but more seamless look) of your weft. Then just take your latch hook and pull through like normal! The more links you use the more secure it'll be.

You should look at the doctored locks linkies weave tutorial.
My friend just did that type of weave for me the other week and it is amazing!
Super comfortable, looks extremely real, you can adjust each link, I can't stop signing the praises!
One of my friends was so impressed with my hair extensions that she did the same a few days later.
