You just need to draw them onto the dreads. If you haven't done prints before, it's a good idea to do a practice dread or try drawing the print on paper first to figure out what looks best.

will fabric pens work on synth? I would imagine they would on wool but not sure if they would bleed.

Acrylic paint is the best! Just paint on little exaggerated C's in all different sizes, & then add a tiny bit of color to the insides of each of those C's.

I keep hearing that acrylic paint is the best, but (if anyone has tried it) would Sharpie be bad? If Sharpie doesn't work, I don't even want to try and I'll just wait until I have a chance to get some acrylic paint pens.

Sharpie gives a nice soft color, but rubs off on your hands and it really smells. Acrylic paint is worth the effort.

Thanks, not trying them!! So acrylic paint doesn't give off any scents?

I use paint pens.. it's easy comes in tons of colors.. and has different sized tips for what ever print you may be doing. It's meticulous work but worth it for how lovely they come out.

I personally use PuffyPaints. They have a nice thin dispense tip to them and they don't fade or peel off when they get wet (at least in my experience).
