Side Comb mounted dreads?
I know this method has been touched on a few times in these forums but I would really love to see some pictures or videos of them and more info about various ways to put them in and where, how many.... I can't install dreads because I have a pretty bad scalp condition, and when i try to wear falls they just slide right out of my hair no matter what I do. (I have tried EVERYTHING I'm dead serious I mean everything!) lol I'm desperate for a way to quickly and easily apply a dread look without any pigtails or things like that (they just don't suit me, or everyday wear). Anyways. I need some tips and inspiration please if anyone can help

*edited to add* You can use any size comb and any amount of dreads to achieve the look you are going for. I have fine thick hair and the combs stay in great for me.

I make comb mounted falls. Here are some pics http://www.etsy.com/transaction/70535830, http://www.etsy.com/transaction/66196975, http://www.etsy.com/transaction/56224324.
They are very simple to make and comfortable to wear.
Hope this helps.

Re: Side Comb mounted dreads?
Thanks guys. I'm actually in the process of making some falls on clips using that very video tutorial, with the wire and all. So far it looks fantastic. The combs I'm using are pretty long, and very sturdy. It looks like once I'm done, I should be able to rubber band a few small sections of the top layer of my hair and slide the combs in flat against my head side by side in the back and then clip in a couple around my face and I *should* get the look I want. Criss crossing a few dreads on top to cover the gap between the combs. I will post pics when done or post again if I run into any problems.

Re: Side Comb mounted dreads?
Hello,
I used a comb to mount my first set of recently made diy dreads too. I firstly mounted them on shoe-lace, but just wasnt happy with how they looked on. So I tied the lace around a hair comb which gave the look I was after. Also I only tied the lace and secured it around the comb using the lace. No glue or other means of attaching was used, therefore I can take the dreads off the comb at any time. The type of comb I used was
sorry for the cruddy pic, it was all I could find on google. Its the same type of clip though with the elastic band attachment. I put my hair into a bun, slipped the comb along my scalp and through the bun and secured using the band on the comb.
The actual dreads are the ones in my avatar and on the show-off section.
Hope this helps.

Re: Side Comb mounted dreads?
Here is what I came up with:
"dreads wired to side comb as fall. I like making my dreads this way rather then on ties or elastic falls. They tend to lay much better over a ponytail this way giving better coverage. I thread the dreads onto the comb using wire. there are about 3 rows of dreads here with about 16 dreads per layer, one on top of the other."
