RIT DYE for synthetic dreads?
Hellooo. i posted yesterday as i have recieved dreads that dont match my hair colour. i wanted to try and dye them to match but have been advised that dyeing synth dreads cant be done. i have since found a range of dyes called RIT for synthetic fibres and wanted some advice on whether anyone has ever used/come across this before and with what results?? any help would be great!

These two links might be useful.

However I don't think you're going to be able to achieve the colour you are after.

Again, I don't think you're going to get the color you want. It might kind of be the right color depending on the color of the dreads (like, if they're white, you MIGHT get a lighter version of the color you want) but I think it'll wipe off as easy as crayola markers on glass. Your skin will be multicolored.
RIT dye is great for natural fibers like cotton and wool, but despite claiming it's for synthetic fibers, theres a really low chance it will work. I dye my own yarns and have a lot of experience with dye.
Have you considered coloring the dreads with sharpie? That's a quick fix. It might not look great, but it's the best option next to dying your hair.

Thankyou very much for your help guys...Phoenix, the links were really helpful...
bit of a bummer as i have decided not to install them, have since been inspired to get my wool back out so will be back on the roving now. Such a shame the naturals are soo nice boo. Think they're gonna be an ebay job.

Re: RIT DYE for synthetic dreads?
I have tried using rit on synthetic hair and it will not absorb the dye at all.
