dress with double use hood..or is it a jacket??
>>>>>>>>>>>TUTORIAL<<<<<<<<<<
Ok so my dress is already made but i think i found out a way to do it so you can make it with ease!!
1.)I measured my over bust, or 'high bust... and mine is is 42 so:My square of material is 42in X 42in sew the top together. just a bit.
2.)Then cut a Triangle Mine is 43in. long cause i have to fold it over where i sewed the top shut. and then just sew the rest in.
And I am handsewing but that is no excuse for sloppy sewing. my seams look like this.
3.)And now its time for the straps... I used eyelet tape.
4.)Now because your underbust is smaller then the dress allows with the insert... time for a little gathering. I pin mine with a safety pin until i know its where I want it.
5.)Now you need to gather your clevage line, a then added a button just cause it looks cuter. Do what you want as this is optional.
6.)now The Belt is pretty simple. start with 3- 1 inch strips of that eyelet tape. and sew the edges so it tapers to one stip of tape.
7.)Add red ribbon.
8.)Forthe hood I cut a half circle out. and added some random pleats.

9.)thenn added a square hood. I sewed the back and and the top corners down. Which creates these little loop things, which is needed since this is a dual piece. You can actually wear this asEither a hod or a jacket
10.)Add matching fabric to the trim and vuala!!
Also if you have trouble with strait lines I uses clear tape and make a line also using back stitch helps alot. so heres 2 examples in one.
