it looks like green corn syrup to me.

is corn syrup different from normal syrup? as i no you can't get corn syrup in the UK :( i've asked before in many places, and they never seem to no what im on about..

Depends on what you mean by normal syrup. Corn Syrup is just glucose syrup or something like that. I'm trying to remember my pastry class on the thing.
Pancake or maple flavored syrups are just flavored glucose syrups. You can buy glucose to make thick syrup like that.
You can make simple syrup by boiling water and suger just make sure its a 2:1(sugar:water) ratio over medium to high heat. the longer its on the heat the thicker it will get.
then just add food coloring.

ACTUALLY I just found a corn syrup recipe. I've never made since I can get boxes of the stuff but heres a recipe. and someone online said you can use whatever it is you use to make trecle tart...never made it so i'm not sure

yea but as it's not clear i wouldn't be able to put food colouring in it would i :/
