Nice red lipstain, eyeshadow(s) and foundation
Im looking for a nice red lip stain that works, as lipstick isn't a good idea if you go out lol. I don't mind spending money on a product that works any suggestions?
Also a nice eyeshadow(s) that i can start from basics, such as
-Black
-grey/silver
and would you say i need to wear a foundation primer? as the foundation never looks matt or natural on my face -_- which is annoying because everyone else who wears it looks natural and mine don't! irritates me a bit. Im currently using L'Oreal brand maybe it's not good enough for my skin? I have tryed both applying it with make-up sponge/make up brush and my fingers yet it don't seem to make much difference. I have tryed small amounts then gradually building it up as suggested but that does nothing either.
Im in the UK so no overseas brands as i most likely will not be able to get hold of them

Re: Nice red lipstain, eyeshadow(s) and foundation
Lipstain: I have the MEMEME one from Superdrug. It's relatively cheap and it lasts well. You can put on layers for a deeper colour if you like too.
Black eyeshadow: Zero by Urban Decay is very very good. A little on the pricey side but it's in at least one of their palettes which are an excellent way to try several shades for relatively little money. I've had the Deluxe Shadow box for 2 years now and I've still not run out of any of the colours. And you get a trial size of the Primer Potion, widely regarded as awesome.
Foundation: I use Lanacane as a primer, as do a few people on here as far as I know. It's not strictly for facial use but I've been using it for over a year now without any problems, I've got really clear skin infact. It has basically the same ingredients as many of the expensive primers but it's about £6 a tube from Superdrug. A tube lasts me about 6 months.
Do you use powder on top of your foundation? I find that mine never looks right until I set it with a little powder. I have found that it's worth buying a decent powder brush for a natural look. I have a beautiful little kabuki brush that works like a dream.

Re: Nice red lipstain, eyeshadow(s) and foundation
Maybe you did use too much powder. I also recommend using a powder brush as this works the powder into the skin and gets rid of the excess. I don't think a primer matters, as when I use one (Even Lanacane ) I don't notice any difference other than I'm still oily. I think using a good brand of foundation makes a difference. I use Estee Lauder and MAC and I find them to be worth the money. 24 quid and it has lasted me since last March. I don't even think 1/5 is gone and I used it everyday!

Re: Nice red lipstain, eyeshadow(s) and foundation
My MAC foundation has lasted ages too, it's definitely worth the money.
I use Studio fix but I use a small amount and apply with the 187 brush which gives you a much lighter finish. It stops it looking caked on which studio fix can do if you use too much.
I also find clever use of a light bronzer can make foundation look more natural - I use it instead of blusher and am very sparing with it (I don't want to look orange). I use it mainly for the contours use a big kabuki brush so it's quite subtle but stops it looking like you wear a mask of foundation it you know what I mean.
I'm very much of the opinion that you get what you pay for with foundation - you can get away with cheap shadows, eyeliners etc but it's worth spending the money on a foundation as you wear it every day

I do not use an official primer for my foundation, but do apply a litle bit of facial moisterizer and let that set a few minutes first. I find it almost works as a primer, and is good for my skin!

Re: Nice red lipstain, eyeshadow(s) and foundation
i did read a youtube review, and the girl said the studio fix made her have break outs. However she did suffer from quite bad acne, i do get occasional break outs but i know that's probably down to stress -_-ScarletLady wrote:I use studio fix liquid and I think it's amazing.

I may buy the mineral based one and give it a try unless i get a reason not too lol, but the girl on youtube used the mineral based one and said it was light when applied so that sounded good to me
Now to decide on a pressed powder

Re: Nice red lipstain, eyeshadow(s) and foundation
studio fix is quite a formidable foundation and I can see how it would give you break outs if you didn't take it off properly every night. If I forget to take my makeup off it can give me the beginnings of spots the next day but I see that as my own fault for leaving my makeup on
Each to their own tho - let us know how you get on with the mineral one

Re: Nice red lipstain, eyeshadow(s) and foundation
You should be using a moisturizer UNDER a primer. Using a primer without one won't help lock in moisture that isn't there =P That's not to say that you don't need a primer, but I just want to make that clear in case it wasn't.
Unfortunately, I can only think of US brands for foundation, lip stains and eyeshadow. If you change your mind about staying within the country I'll gladly pop out some info ^__^

Re: Nice red lipstain, eyeshadow(s) and foundation
thank you for the reviews but i ended up buying a brand called mememe pussy cat lip and cheek tint. After reading a few reviews on the net and youtube that many people said it was exactly like Benefit so i decided to give it a go! and being under £5 i was quite impressed with the product. I had to apply around 2-3 coats to get a deep red but it did the jobMadii wrote:About lip stains:
- Collection 2000 do a deep pinky red one called the Cheek of It! which is a lip and cheek stain. Very cheap, very subtle and easy to get ahold of. I own it myself and the only bad point about it is that it isn't a true red stain, something I've found sodding hard to get ahold of.
- Benefit do two lip stains, a deep pinky red similar to the Collection 2000 one and a lighter, rose pink. These stains are pretty well known and respected, lots of girls like them but being a more upmarket brand they will of course cost more.
- Urban Decay do lip stains too, from what I've seen they are very pigmented and more like lipglosses than liquid stains, but they do come in a slightly wider range of colours (though still not in that proper true red tone).
If anyone's found a true red lip stain that's more of a 1940s scarlet than a deep pink tone, do let me know!
I am still looking for a scarlet red one like you are too, there is one by Revlon 'just bitten' in a few shades, I haven't tried it myself but it is at an reasonable price under £5 but I've read a few online reviews on it and people do seem to like it, however only downside is that it's a roller ball instead of a brush/sponge applicator
you can see colour ranges here:http://www.revlon.com/ProductCatalog/Pr ... oductID=33
Oh and Body shop apparently do a lip stain as well, not sure how well it works but it but got this small review body shop lip/cheek stain
'i wanted to buy this coz i've tried on anggi's..
it applies and dries nicely..
gives you a healthy red lips without looking vampire-ish..
and it applies on your cheeks too for that healthy glow..'
Source: http://xxxalexaxxx.blogspot.com/
If you sroll down you can see the kind of red shade it is, probably not what your looking for though. I am quite tempted to buy the Revlon brand to give it a test.

Re: Nice red lipstain, eyeshadow(s) and foundation
I have one of the Revlon 'Just Bitten' lip stains. It's quite nice, but the rollerball makes application a bit more tricky, and the 4 shades I have tried have been more on the pink/berry side instead of a true red.
