i'm having a crisis at the moment, i've only had my dreads for 2 months and i hate them, i hate the texture and the way they look, i just want to chop them all off! i do this all the time, i decided i wanted a red mohawk a few months ago then changed my mind after a couple of weeks. i'm hoping my dreads weren't just a phase that i'm stuck with now
any words of wisdom?

you may still be able to comb them out. get some spray in conditioner or even normal conditioner and really saturate the hair, then get an wide toothed comb and comb from the bottom up. don't go from top to bottom as this only make the knots tighter as they get pushed down. it'll probably take quite a while but i've heard of people doing it with older dreads.

Re: dread crisis
It's better to take them out now. If you're fickle about your hair, dreadlocks aren't the hairstyle for you. They're not too versatile, and you can't change much about them all the time. A lot of conditioner and a comb will help you comb them out.
You could wait for them to mature (they start to look good at the 6 month point- resemble actual dreads) and maybe that'd make you more comfortable with them.
But basically, dreadlocks are a hairstyle that needs commitment. I think that's why I haven't dreaded my whole head yet.

If you've only had them in for two months, there's a good chance you'll be able to brush them out still. Just make sure to use lots and lots of conditioner and brush them out very slowly, carefully, and patiently.
