Help me go ginger! (pro advice wanted?)

I was thinking koleston perfect 8/34 with a dash of 0/33 thrown in to made it a bit more orangey but if anyones done it nefore im open to suggestions

Sorry to bump this up, but does anyone have any suggestions? My sister actually showed me that exact photo a few months ago (hence bumping this instead of starting a new thread), and I've been going to every hair supply and salon I can find to look for it to no avail. I can't even find anything similar, or anything that will fade to a similar colour! The closest was a Schwarzkopf dye in 8.44 I think it was, it was definitely a level 8 and a very bright orange. I was actually assisted by a hairdresser who had dyed her own hair the exact shade, and it's not what she wants.

I feel so bad that she's had to watch me go through all these crazy colours and I can't even find this one for her! The Koleston Perfect dyes look like they may work, can you actually mix these dyes together? I'm unfamiliar with that brand. Her hair is pretty much in perfect condition (lucky girl got all the good genes) and somewhere between a level 6-7 reddish brown - I can get pictures if you need it. I've only used professional semi-permanents on her but she hasn't dyed it in about four months so it is very faded. If I can mix those dyes that'd be perfect - is there any way to guess

If she wants a level 8 and is currently 6 or 7, you're going to have to lift the ends just slightly, anywhere that has previously colored. Many semi-permanents won't lift with higher-level peroxide alone. Koleston Perfect can be mixed to your heart's content to get the perfect shade. If you don't want to mess with lifting the ends, you can just mix the color you're going for with a 20 or 30 volume developer, but it's likely that any of her grow out that hasn't ever been processed before will be lighter and brighter that the rest, or it may be the only thing that changes at all. It's really hard to tell.

You'd probably want to use something close to an 8/34 mixed with a neutral (/0) to keep it from going unearthy vibrant. Again this all depends somewhat on the canvas you're working on, you kinda have to consider what you're already working with and make adjustments as needed!

Thank you so much! I think I might lighten it first to get an even base, since she does have regrowth, and just like me her hair doesn't lighten very much at all with semi-permanents regardless of the developer used.

It's good to hear that Koleston Perfect can be mixed! I'll order those two and when they arrive do a bunch of strand tests. Even if it does turn out a bit more vibrant she won't mind, especially if it'll fade quickly, but this has become such an important mission for me that I want to get it perfect!

You're welcome! I might consider ordering a 10 volume developer to use when you're coloring (and maybe for the 'virgin' grow out if it too needs lifting before you deposit color. You don't want it lifting too fast!) and then a 20 volume for the ends that need color lifted out of them.
