I have put a link at the bottom to pictures of my current hair colour, I wanted to go lighter but it's just too golden, obviously my hair's been through a lot of processing and it's been about 8 weeks since it was last dyed, I bought a colour at Sally's by Matrix socolor in 5Br light brown red, can anyone tell me how the colour will turn out, I didn't realise until I got home that the colour is permanent, does it matter? I don't want my hair to go too dark again as it was a lot of effort to get lighter as my hair was black, also what volume developer should I use?

Thanks

Oh not good, I can probably take the colour back for an exchange, can anyone suggest a nice colour from Sallys that would suit me and not turn out too dark?

If you want to stay reddish brown but go lighter then, id go back to sallys and look at their colour charts for wella or goldwell permanent hair colour and ask the staff at Sallys.
A base 7 would probably be the lightest brown with red in it that you could go without being ginger/copper. You'd have to look at a chart though to see what you fancied. You need to see what base colour you are now too, to see what peroxide you need to mix in in order to get the right level of lift for the shade you pick to come out right.

The base colour they put on was Majirel no 6, I definately don't want it to look gingery as I feel that's how it looks at the mo and I hate it.
