Senior Photos/Formal Mohawk/color help

Post by FrankenBabe » Fri Jun 03, 2011 1:26 am

Ok, I just posted a thread about dyeing my hair blue, but i was planning on doing this AFTER my senior pictures this year for school, (it was an agreement i made with my mother). So I have a few questions and would like everyones opion and help!

1. getting back to a natural color: Ive grown out the sides of my hawk, and my hair has been dyed red, with black over it about two months ago. I now have about an 1nch of regrowth. Ive tried doing bleach baths to get some of the black out and it worked for the most part, but now i have red in the front from where my hair was red. So, ive got about 4 different shades in my hair from the bleach. I dont care if its my real natural color, i just want it to be ONE color.

2. keeping it light: sense im going blue right after, i dont want to dye it BLACK. that would be dumb.

3. "formal" mohawk styles: like i said ive been growing my hawk out for about 3 or 4 months the middle is bout 5 to 6 inch and the sides are about 1 1/2 inch. other than leaving it down and "soft", has anyone styles their mohawk in a formal way? ive tried looking up images, and i cant find ANYTHING.

4. going Special Effects Blue Mayhem after: this should be pretty easy i would think. just bleach the rest of the color thats left in my hair? so the questions is really, would anyone recommend how white or color i should leave in my hair to get the best result of this color?

That was long :? Im sorry I dont have any pictures but theres not much to show. i think you get the point?

Thanks, <3 Frankie

Do you only need your hair a normal color for the senior photo? How about wearing a wig for the photo:)

weve discussed this and i think its because in casses like these i do usually wear wigs, she just really wants my natural hair like 100% but thanks for the suggestion, i keep trying to convince her to let me wear a wig.

*I forgot to mention dispite all of the dyeing and bleaching, my hair is in good shape and still soft and not stringy or breaking. So I believe it could handel whatever im going to do with it

Its hard to suggest a style because your hair is right at that awkward length where you can just barely get in in a ponytail, if I'm not mistaken  If you can, in situations like that I usually just pull mine up into a high ponytail, make sure my fringe is nice and straight, and I'm good to go. Maybe throw in a nice headband or something. I used to use bobby pins to keep it all laying flat down the middle of my head, but if your sides are anything like mine once they get about 1 inch or so they stick up all funny on the top of your head  Hrrrmm. Maybe if your hair is long enough, you can part it down the middle, and straighten it so it lies flat? I had a friend who did that when her hair was just about chin length, and she had longer bangs, so it looked almost like she had an A-line. Kinda hard to explain >.<

I've never had a mohawk before, but I would suggest something similar to a bang poof. Just kinda flip your mohawk back and give it a few bobby pins, and leave the back down , same with your regrowth. Just give it a brush and maybe a little styling gel to keep it in place while you're getting your pictures taken. It's a nice soft look that I've seen pulled off pretty well before, but you just have to see how you like it or if it even works with your hair~

Sadly, I know nothing about dye, so I cant help you at all there. Good luck though~

Oh, also, there's a curly hawkish thing. The girl doesn't actually have a mohawk, but maybe you could pull off a few pinned up curls in your hawk to make it look more formal, but then again, it may not be your style:

Oooh~ also, this one. (yes I know it's paris hilton, but the hair is pretty):

Meep. This one is with regular hair, but you could work it with just regrowth on the side I think:

And finally, I promise, there's a site with some mohawk short hairstyles:

thats one of my formal mohawk styles, i think a prety hair clip can really help it look more formal as well.

So I got my senior pics done today, and in the end we ended up using a wig. go figure. However the photos ended up amazing and the company will be posting some examples on their facebook :D The shoot included my derby gear, painting my face to match one of my paintings and setting a paintbrush on fire.

heres the wig, its a A-line hard to tell here, sorry, i took it in a rush before going to the shoot.
