And now for something completely different....

Post by MrsEss » Mon Feb 27, 2012 9:46 pm

So, I'd had enough of having black hair. My roots were pretty dire & it's been quite a while since I was blonde, so ventured this weekend on an attempt to remove it.

I figured I'd photograph the stages & show you.

All the images barring the "final result" have been taking using the flash on my camera.

Previous hair...grown out black.

I got a similar kinda thing to colour b4 & this is how it looked afterwards:
Image

I then bought Live "absolute platinum" as that is what I've used in the past to bleach:
Image
I have no idea what the darker bit is behind my ear. I can only assume I never rinsed the CB4 enough from there.

I toned the crap out of it & still wasn't happy so bought an actual pre lightener, this is still wet:

Dry:

Still not happy I decided to give one final attempt before whacking a red or something over it, this time I used Ganier lightest pale blonde:
Image
The darker parts are where there is a build up of black, as it's been black for quite some time.

Rinsed:

Dry (no flash)

and a view from the top (I have no idea what the little white mark is!!) :

So yeah, overall I'm pretty pleased. I'm using touch of silver so hopefully the slightly darker tones will disappear after a while. Failing that I have a 30vol & some powder bleach stashed away just in case!!

:D

You're much better at getting colour out than my sister haha how long did you do this over? I did a bleach on Thursday and think I'm going to re do my roots today as the tips are white and the roots are the same as your current lightest I think. It looks tre cool, how long do you think you'll leave it blonde for before going blue? ;p

Ooo well done! You're braver than me! Looks cute :D And if you get bored of blonde you could go baby blue from that light. A twist on your usual! :)

weeeeeeird! I like it, though! I bet it's throwing your style for a bit of a loop though, eh? When I make a drastic hair color change I never know what to wear anymore.

I think at one stage I put atlantic blue over a dark orange and it worked fine, but baby blue could look funky.

It looks great by the way. :)

Nope. Not in the slightest, hair colour has never been a decider for my "style" WEARING BLACK ALWAYS FTW!

Also, I had blonde hair a few years back so it's nothing new really.

3 days is impressive you've sold me another bleach for me tomorrow! Ah work you're at carphone right? My sister always had trouble getting away with anything other than reds, purples and accidental gingers there. I like it blonde though :)

I do indeed. It was blue underneath when I first started & when I had dreads my manager had no issues. I just don't wanna push it. Plus I'm kinda happy without the blue, I was when it was all black too!!! I don't miss it. There isn't a blue out there that I am 100% happy with, I much prefer the lack of faffing about!! :D

Silver white probably & then when the novelty wears off back to pale blonde.

I use an awesome product Lee Stafford Bleach Blondes Shampoo / Conditioner that really takes the yellow out of hair. its brill. I've left some of mine on for too long on some occassions (no more than 2 mins was needed on my hair) and it has turned my hair white with a slight lilac tint. Might be worth having a go.

Really love the color, it suits your short cut so much! It will be cool to see the final color you want also which I think will look great with that hair cut too. :3

Great work on the bleaching over three days!
