So the title says it all: what are you currently reading?
I'm reading Virginia Woolf's Night and Day.

I could never get on with Woolf- after being forced to read to the lighthouse at uni...Room with a view is not too bad though.
Ihave two on the go, the first Sooki Stackhouse book and Northanger Abbey, Jane Austen- bit of a mix there!

The American Boy by Andrew Taylor - although I've not really got all that into it.
Possibly because the books I was reading before (Pillars of the Earth/World Without End - Ken Follett) were damn good and I couldn't put them down.

Not so interesting-sounding, I guess, but A People's History of the United States, by Howard Zinn. And Louder Than Bombs, but (I think?) David Barsamian? I don't have it handy.

Re: The "What are you currently reading?" thread
I love reading, but I tend to always go for the 'kid has a nasty upbringing and then happiness conquers all' type of books. Not that I'm terribly morbid or anything, I just like to read of a happy ending.
I am terrible for fiction though, cuz I judge a book by its cover. If I don't know what the book is about just by the front I won't bother picking it up. Which is pretty bad, I know.
I quite like 'White Teeth' by Zadie Smith, but I read that when I was 13 and it got a bit confusing for me. It was about where I used to live in London, so that's what attracted me to it.

The Judging Eye, R. Scott Bakker.
His command of the English language is awe inspiring, he literally weaves images in my head. The previous three books of his were also pure perfection.

AWESOME!
I was battling thru James Joyce's Ulysses for months! After getting about a third the way thru, I decided I deserved a break and something fun, so I started Pride and Prejudice and Zombies two days ago!

Re: The "What are you currently reading?" thread
I've currently got my nose firmly stuck in Last Act in Palmyra by Lindsey Davis it's book 6 in her Falco series and I've been reading them for the last week and a half... they're kind of a detective novel set in ancient Rome and is really funny at times.
I've also been reading Steve Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen, I've just started to read the second book Deadhouse Gates - very very good...
The best thing about reading all these books is that I get through a bag of apples in less than 3 hours (thus will do my diet some good!)

PICK IT UP. DO IT RIGHT NOW. SERIOUSLY.Bomber wrote:I keep meaning to start A Game Of Thrones by George RR Martin, and putting it off.
I just finished the Song Of Ice And Fire series (I doubt A Dance With Dragons will EVER see completion) and it's great. There are A LOT of characters but you don't get confused if you remember who belongs to what house. I lost many nights of sleep to those books.
And now that I'm done with A Song Of Ice And Fire I'm having a hard time picking up anything again. I'm currently reading Neuromancer by William Gibson and the first Wheel Of Time book.
I am beyond God, I am human
