As long as you have no respiratory problems, struggling for breath means you need more cardio. Doing it regularly vastly improves your breathing and lung performance.
What, that? It's a spade.

So, in a nutshell, I should be exercising til my lungs collapse? It confuses the hell out of me, cuz I don't know if I push through the chest burn til I reach half hour or whatever, or do I exercise for half hour without letting myself get to the chesty burny stage?

Whenever I worked on the cross trainer I'd do it til I burned.

If it's burning Lorny, just cool it down a bit. Walk in place or stop any arm movements just until you feel a bit better, then pick it back up when you have stopped gasping.

I am on month 3of p90x. I took a 2week break instead of 1 and my muscles are so sore like it's day 1 again. The past couple of days I have slept like a baby. When I don't workout I noticed I don't sleep no where near as good.

Me and the hubby are thinking about buying some bikes, I also want some roller blades! P90X is great for getting fit but no fun. I love doing the strength training but the cardio is boring.

I'd like to find a balance of fun and exercise. It's had to be motivated to workout everyday if it's no fun. I think if you have a goal to lose weight or build muscle you have to do workouts which you don't particularly enjoy, but once you reach that goal exercising should be fun, otherwise it's hard to stick at it.

I started playing baseball. A year ago I couldn't even throw a ball and now I am playing in a tournament. It's so fun and a great workout if you play for a couple of hours. We normally combine playing catch for an hour with a 20min run through the park.

I'm am thinking about getting a dance workout DVD. Anyone know of any decent ones?

Gracey I got Callanetics after reading lots of great reviews about it. You seem to have done it quite a bit. Do you really see great results after doing it for just 10hours?

Thanks!

I think so yes, if you do it properly. I can tone my body noticably overnight with Callanetics if I'm going out or something. I have done it so regularly for so long that it's hard to really tell but I think it's fair to say I look all right for an old bird.

My motivation has totally left me. I'm hoping it comes back soon.

Motivation is the cause of all my problems.

I find I really have to go searching for my motivation or it can take weeks to come back.. I blame it on the womanly cycle! Poor cycle gets blamed for everything.

I have a goal in mind so am not just working out to keep fit. If my motivation is lacking I will look at exercise/weightloss videos and photos on youtube, blogs and forums. I get some coffee on the go and put some music on that gets me moving. I then force myself to do a workout. As soon as I am moving I feel better again.

Gracey- What do you use for a bar on Callanetics? Have you tried Super Callanetics or the stomach workout?

For a bar, I use either the kitchen counter or the back of a bar-style stool. at this point, there is little need to worry about my neighbours peeping in and wondering how crazy I am.

I do versions of the stomach workout most days. I would say that the basic Callanetics need to be mastered before attempting the Super, just so they work to their optimum.

From here on, in line with what I call it at home, Callanatics will hereby be referred to by me as 'Tics. :D

TOTM kills my motivation everytime. REALLY don't feel like doing a tough bike workout or brisk walk at that time, shudder. However, I did just force myself to do a 30 min pilates workout (not too strenuous) and the arms pilates at least, so that's something.

I'm fine with motivation when I'm exercising regularly, but because I haven't been able to for what seems like forever now, I've lost all motivation to do anything. Blargh.

Yes I plan on mastering the basic before the super. I probably wont be starting until I finish p90x anyhow. I guess the kitchen table will be sufficient then.

I am starting The beachbody Rockin body workout today and keep at p90x in the evening. I need more cardio and hate the boring cardio I normally do. Rockin body is a dance workout which should be fun.

I seem a bit crazy with all these beachbody workouts!

Apparently a couple of days before and during your period is a great time for working out for weight loss, as your metabolism slightly increases!

We must be weird together then doll, because I find exactly the same thing. Exercise makes me feel less crappy, whatever the cause.

I've bought myself the 'hip hop abs' dvd (on the basis that if someone saw it on my shelf, I could laugh it off). I bought it because it doesn't require any extra equipment, & because hip hop abs sounded like something I needed  There's all over workouts, a cardio routine &, of course, ab focused workouts.

Anyway, I'll let you guys know how it goes.

If I remember correctly exercise releases natural painkillers, so it makes sense.

can anyone recommend a good yoga DVD? I don't want one where they say things like visualise a beam of light or anything like that because fits of giggles are not good when you're in downward dog
