my accent is all over the bloody place lol

when i was a kid my family moved around a lot as my parents were in the pub trade, and being a kid, i soaked accents up like a sponge!

im orginally from Widnes, near Liverpool - the Widnes, or 'Woolyback' accent is a horrid drawl that actually makes people sound like they havent got a braincell
being so close to Liverpool means there are a lot of 'scousers' here too - ill do my best to type a typical chavvy scouse girl scentence...

'EEEEEEE GERRRL GET THA' FUKKIN BOOTS OFF YER FEET, FUKKIN GOFFFED!'

add some high pitched tones were appropriate and youve got it

i also lived in Kelsall, near Frodsham - very lovely, slightly posh accent with a slight 'down on the farm' twang!
i lived in Mold, North Wales for a bit - complete mix of accents here but not too much of the typical Welsh accent, mostly just quite nice and well spoken... sort of lol

my boy is originally from Wales too, Llandudno to be exact, and he has a lovely accent! he also lived in Leeds for uni, which of course has a Yorkshire accent as well as students from all over the place to mix up on

im still soaking accents up, i dont know what it is that makes me do it but at least i can say i have my very own, VERY unique accent!
until i get drunk... then i sound like an angry scouser whos been living in Yorkshire for too long >_<

this is so cool! I love accents and dialects...I'm kind of shy to post one of these things myself but I actually don't think that pre written blurb catches much of my accent at all, so I should think about what brings it out most and maybe make a recording of that instead.

I am Canadian! Uhm, despite common belief, we don't all sound the same (canada is bigger geographically than the USA..of course we have different accents across the country!) and I have never met anyone who says about "aboot".

all I can find on youtube is newfoundland. I have a friend who's a newfie..He doesn't use his accent anymore though, unless he's very drunk or trying to make people laugh. I tried to find a few good vids on youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhZ7b7db ... re=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNDkWZeC ... re=related

I grew up in saskatchewan, we don't all sound the same, and it gets very strong as you go more north..I had lost most of mine (unless I was drunk) for the 10 years I lived in toronto, but evidently its back in full swing now. hooboy. :) out here in saskatchewan a "bunnyhug" is what we call a hoodie, or hooded sweatshirt. most people say GRADGE instead of garage (this one drives me nuts, I dont say it) and gibbled is a word most people use to describe broken or messed up. like "oh go exchange that box for a new one, that one is gibbled". so wrong. One day when my SO was working for a courier company temporarily, he got a call from someone who claimed he was from "AH bruh" and my SO had to ask him several times to repeat himself..the poor guy was like "AH bruh..you know..lak abuv yer AH!!!" so eyebrow. yep. its kind of charming. It's mostly the vowels that make us distinct. I'd like to recommend the show 'corner gas' for some of the humor, but the accents aren't really there at all.

I don't know too much about the different francophone accents..I just like them, hopefully we have a french canadian or 2 in our midst. It's nothing like france french at all.

also. some of you guys sound sooo sweet I have mini crushes on everyone who posted their voices <3 hehe.

ok I made one...totally didn't read the 'script' though

I love accents.

http://audioboo.fm/boos/155756-saskydoll

sorry its so quiet! I speak very softly and have a bad mic :) my sasky drawl gets stronger when i'm mad, tired, or whatever.

I also found this...lol...just jump past the scripted stuff and listen to the unscripted speech.

Ok here we are! This is me reading the blurb:

Telephone voice

And a less serious one:

Normal

I actually have a bit of a cold right now but I don't think it's effected it too much.

LOL yeah I never really had an accent. I grew up on the border of Mexico, well I was actually born in Mexico, grew up on the border then moved all around central and south Texan for college and such.
Growing up everyone was shocked that my family was from a border town because none of us have a border accent, you know that generic Mexican/Latina accent. I honestly don't know why we were the only ones without an accent, everyone else in my family has an accent, all my cousin and even my mom has a slight accent. *shurgs* The Texan accent got picked up when I met my now husband, he's from West Texas, from the Midland/Odessa area and thats a very thick accent. Since meeting him his accent has faded but now I have picked up on it slightly. LOL
