Get someone else to record you at the meet using their phone :p bwhahahaha, you will not escape..
°«Belle»° wrote:I absolutely love this thread! I think I had only heard a couple of peoples voices on here through youtube vid's. Rivet's tute video (obviously!) and IPA's derby video. It's funny how I struggle to remember that we don't all speak with the same accent. I was surprised to hear your voice IPA. Like I'd forgotten you were from Belfast. There are a lot of you brit's that say 'AHsk' where as I would say AARsk' and there are a lot of chavvy kids that now say 'ARKs'. I think they're just trying to sound a bit gangsta. I will do one of these.. when I work out how to upload from my phone.
Ha that reminds me of Futurama where instead of "ask" it's now "axe". If I was ever to turn up at a meet or something I'd probably sound different again lol. When we go over to England to visit my OH's family I think I get a bit more English, or at least I start thinking in a more English accent :? I'm always worried that I'll end up coming out with something in some weird attempt at an English accent and his family will think I'm mocking them or something

@IPA - I pick up accents as well and always worry people will think I'm taking the p!ss

I sound really common, unless I use my "phone voice". I probably sound a lot different to how I did at the last meet, I've had a whole year more living in South London

oh no, audioboo doesn't accept uploads in the file format that my phone records in. I might try to find a program to change the format. It's AMR. poopy! It was soo weird recording my own voice. I sound so funny! I think I have what would be considered a typical clear british accent, with quite well formed letters. Although I would definately speak a little lazier in general conversation. The recording sounds like the voice I put on when I speak to my nan! I tried to be normal but it's actually quite hard when you're aware of the fact that you're recording your voice for the accent and not becasue you have something to say. Maybe I need to find something to talk about.

I'm sure you could blag an english accent. I do a really rubbish irish accent if I'm pratting about. I think that it would probably offend anyone that was from Ireland! Kodi doesn't like it as she can't understand what I'm saying  I get my own back for her annoying me with making noises!

Mine was AMR and I just used a converter that I got from this site

OK, so here it is. I converted the files and it chopped the end off and then when I uploaded it it has horrible sounds on it. The file doesn't have them on when I play it in windows media. :? meh.. you can still hear my accent.

Yeah nah you do sound like you're a bit Kiwi aye ( <Thats my accent haha). Its not so much your accent, but more the words/phrases you use. Like 'sup', 'umm', ' but, yeah...'.
My ex lived over in NZ for about a year, and came back with a slang ridden vocab, so ever since he got back everyone is bro or cuz

Aaah fair enough - is it in any way similar to geordie or am I an uneducated buffoon?

Like I said, I haven't heard it for ages and when I think about it I can just hear a geordie accent...sorry to your OH :D

no where near the same, but it's a common mistake that people from down south think smoggies sound like Geordie. When I was training in Uxbridge we were constantly asked to slow down as no one could understand us. OR they just referred to us as geordies.

I added Richard talking on page 4, if you listen to the one I said is "just for you" hopefully you'll be able to hear the difference from boro pat.

I don't understand why mine came out with the stupid noises all over it! Everyone elses sound so clear. I may have to try re-uploading them as it's just annoying me now! :| It's just not good enough!

And don't worry about wildlife getting into the house. I had a bird get in and hide in the cupboard for an hour, guarded by my animal chasing dog. I managed to get the thing out!

I tried reading the script thing and I sound awful. Stelloh...Fings...Bruvva, etc.
I'm gonna try uploading one of these things tomorrow.

Aaaah, probably similar to people getting my accent confused with a London one - I think they sound totally different but people from Oop North can't seem to tell the difference :D

I have a mixed accent. I sound mostly like what you think a cowboy would sound like, plus a little Leeds and Nigeria. Add a pinch of cajun and belizean and you have me lol but I really just sound like a "redneck" when I'm out and about. (oh dear!)

When speaking english, I have a Greek accent, though I try to fight it. I'm embarassed to speak English sometimes, because I don't like my accent, even though my English is generally good. :P
