Films that make you cry

Post by LadyLillith » Thu Sep 11, 2008 9:30 pm

We have one for songs, so I thought we'd have one for films. The first I watched it I cried at Moulin Rouge, Star wars 1 (i was young and it was when they burnt Qui gon gin) and cold mountain.
But the film I cry at every single time is Armageddon. It goes downhill from lift off until Bruce willis' final speech just makes me burst into tears.

I've only cried at 3 films.. Lord of the Rings - Return of the King, deep impact, and three and out.. it was a brilliant film, such a shame it flopped.. think it was badly marketed though..

Edward Scissorhands. Any time I watch it I'm bawling like a baby.

The end of Moulin Rouge is definitely a tear-jerker.

I can't think of many movies I've over, but I lose it over a few choice episodes of Buffy and Angel. The season 2 finale where she kills Angel right after he gets his soul gets me EVERY TIME.

Oh God me too
I cried at the Constant Gardner too. And the Lion King when Simba's dad died.
I also cried at Beauty and the Beast, though not because I was sad, just because I was so scared! :|

Dumbo - was my fav movie as a kid, watched it multiple times a day to the point that mum knew (and still does know) every word. Now I cry like a little girl.

Fly Away Home - at the end when she's flying the geese in. I can't listen to the song that plays without crying either.

The Green Mile - does me in every time.

Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers - when Haldir (the elf) is killed and when Gandalf arrives with the riders of Rohan and rides down into the battle, though I think I cry there because it's just so beautiful to watch.

Lilo and Stitch - when stitch says he has no family and that he's lost. He reminds me of my staffy and I imagine her feeling like that and I'm gone.

Stupid feel good family movies!!!

I have an awful habit of crying at the most rubbish movies and tv programmes but here are some of the more noteable tearjerkers;

Schindlers List
Bobby- My eyes didn't just well up for this one, it was full on proper crying!!
Saving Private Ryan
Edward Scissorhands
A League of Their Own

Return of the King gets me everytime. I'm good up until they all bow down for the hobbits. God I'm a nerd...

I cry at the end of Field of Dreams too. It reminds me of playing catch with my dad when I was little.

I cried pretty hard at the end of The Fountain too.

Feast of Love!
Absolutely heartbreaking :(

And ofcourse Moulin Rouge and The Notebook!
I shamelessly cried at Monsters Inc the other day too, hiccuping with sob-filled joy when Mike fixes the door and Sully goes through it at the end ^__^

ok, to be honest i will cry at nearly anything if i'm on (or near) my rag! i've cried at the telus phone commercials with the pigs flying with balloons..yea. i'm a crier

regular movies i watch a lot and still cry to are:
moulin rouge
amelie (no idea why, it's happy! maybe that's why..)
lord of the rings (mostly return of the king, at the final battle)
armageddon for sure

my BF hates when his mom lends me movies, because they are always sappy and i cry the entire time from start to finish. i don't remember the name, but there's this movie with robin williams in med school, and he helps patients by making them laugh? well i cried for the entire last half of that one too. sometimes it's embarrassing, so i only watch those movies at home haha

I watched atonement tonight & that made me cry! The fact that the 2 main charecters where stolen of there happiness & were both killed really spoke to me. Iv recently been thorught somethin similar nothing to do with a war tho just the couple who loved each other & there happiness being taken away from them

Moulin rouge got me upsdet i didnt cry tho

Life is Beautiful - no one warned me that this movie would suddenly take a HUGE TURN for the worst. I hadn't read any synopsis, so I had no idea that it was about life in concentration camps. I don't think I've ever cried so hard as I did when watching this one!

Brokeback Mountain. Again, with the hysterical crying.

I LOVE movies that make me cry, I don't think it's worthwhile watching a movie unless you can have a good ol' sob at the end of it! All my favourite movies are totally miserable and depressing, I confuse my friends ;D

Requiem for a Dream is my all time favourite, I cry everytime I watch it... not only that but the cinematography is amazing and the music is so haunting. I also love Elephant and Noi Albinoi *sniffle*

Blue spring & 9 souls both directed by Toshiaki Toyoda, they are such sad films particularly blue spring, even my husband has to fight back the tears. Oh and certain parts of moonchild made me a little teary, fantastic film!!
