Second set: Chocolate Pumpkin Dreads

Post by NearFantastica » Fri Nov 02, 2012 7:24 pm

This is my second set I've ever made, and I've been enjoying the creative name bit so I call these ones Chocolate Pumpkin. I made these ones a little thinner than the Cherry Berry's and I used more hair in each section. I got my ends perfected this time around so they look much better than last time. I looked at my first set and there is definitely a HUGE difference in the quality, I must have learned something after all ;)

I even have them in, and oh boy does my head ache a little. One thing though, they feel better pulled up onto the top of my head and that's one thing I wasn't able to do with the last set. I'm hoping in a few more days the aches will go away because I didn't make them especially tight. I've left the sides of my hair because I was contemplating a side cut but I can't decide if I want to or not since I'm trying to grow it out. I braided both sides and pulled them back and it doesn't look too terrible. I'm soooo tempted to use my clippers but I'm so unsure about it that it's best to just wait lol. I'm not sure how many dreads I used, I can't remember, I think around 50 or so mostly SE's with a few DE's thrown in there. Sorry for the crappy install picture, it's hard taking pictures of yourself without showing the obvious pillow marks on your face while in really terrible lighting haha. I will maybe get a better one up later on.

What do you guys think? (Please ignore the cat hair in the picture showing the ends, oops)

I really like those. The length, thickness, smoothness, colours. Just lovely.

Thank you!!!! I'm glad you guys like them! I had these beauties in for 2 weeks (which is pretty good, considering my first set lasted 5 days before I couldn't take it) and really, the only reason they came out was because I got sick and I figured washing my hair would make me feel much better lol. They are the perfect size/weight because I was able to pull it up into a pony tail or a messy bun on top of my head and not feel like my neck was breaking. The whole having the sides loose thing worked out very well, it made it comfortable to sleep and it was easy enough to just pull it back to give the illusion of the side cut. I also put wooden beads in as well, but I took the pictures before I put the beads in. I need to get more, because it turns out I LOVE the look of the beads on dreads! I want beads in my hair ALL the time... :)

To be honest, I really didn't want to take them out lol, I got sooooo many compliments (and weird looks) on them, probably because where I live it isn't common to see people with dreads. One girl thought they were real and told my bf that they were the nicest dreads she'd ever seen haha. I'm pretty proud :D
