First full head of roving dreads

Post by Issy Stardust » Sat Jul 30, 2011 12:38 am

I have made roving dreads before (but never installed them) and my boyfriend loved them and asked me to make him a set! There are a mixture of SE and DE dreads here all installed by me (his hair is waist-length)

I had also never tried making SE rovings before and found a few of the loops at the top ripped when I was trying to braid them into the hair. Any suggestions on how to avoid this?

oh wow, those are fantastic! Very natural looking, they suit him really well! :i6:

I don't do roving so I can't help you with the loops, but I can tell you they look rad :i2:

I'd say the loops need to be felted more, that's probably why they ripped. I like how the color matches so well, but I'd say he could do with some more dreads for coverage.

Ahh yeah I agree with the coverage! it was his choice as he has had DE synthetic dreads in before and said the volume was too much and he couldn't fit his hat on, so this time I did a load of SE's at the front. I think it's a boy thing! :P xxx

DE's are easier with roving, however if you want to make SE's there's a great tute on Diversity hair's website: http://www.diversityhair.co.uk/blog/201 ... -dreads-2/

(the bit that says a standard needle is fine is wrong, it should say single felting needle)

Agreed about a boy thing! I've noticed that too.
