Second SE attempt, minus the crappy fiber.
So I got rid of that horrid 100% synthetic hair, definitely learned my lesson with that shite.
Here's my second attempt....well 1st in my eyes with the correct fiber.
Tried my hand at striped, transitional, and swirled.
The brown ones turned out to be serious microdreads, definitely using more hair.

Re: Second SE attempt, minus the crappy fiber.
Really think so?
I was pretty shocked at how much better they looked too.
I was feeling pretty discouraged about my potential with making dreads with the other ones I had done, but as soon as I did these ones I was like 0.o, and my boyfriend said they looked way better too.
I'm stoked!

Definitely looking better, and the good thing is (like with the brown ones) you know what you need to do to make them better. Keep going, I think you're doing great!

Yeah the difference is really noticeable, these ones are so even! I'm really impressed with the transitional too, I haven't even thought about attempting those yet Maybe use a bit more hair in each, I find it really hard to judge the right amount still and end up making them all different thicknesses >.< I'm still learning too

Re: Second SE attempt, minus the crappy fiber.
Yeah, that's a definite thing that's going to take me a little bit to figure out. Lengths, and how much hair to use for thickness.
Some of them end up short, or uber long like those few super long blonde ones I've done. But I'm going to curl those super long blonde ones.
With the skinny brown ones I was just using what I had left from the bag of brown I had open, and I cut them in half then they ended up super skinny, ahaha!!
I want to make braids out of that other colored stuff I had. How do I make them?
Wrap the hair around and just braid? Then seal? or whatt..... Then for install, is it the exact same way as installing a SE dread?

the striped one look great !
the transitional dreads dose too but needs more hair .
figuring how much hair you need for each dread to be even will come to you eventually
Always try to remembered how much you used for the first dread and if the weight feels like the one before . also once you have it folded and ready to backcomb feel the thickness of the hair and try to remember if this is how thick it felt for the first one or whatever size you want to achieve.after that you are ready to backcomb and surely enough each dread should be a bout the same size. I least that's how i do it x3

Uuggg I got jipped buying hair with that 100% synthetic stuff, too. Thing is, I asked the sales girl to help me with finding Kanekalon, but I guess it's just like any other store...no one really knows the product, they're just there for a paycheck lol
But your dreads look great! I bet they'll be even better over time, just keep up the practice

I backcombed the two colors seperately, then wrapped one color around the other to cover it, then switched. Steamed each section as I was doing it.
Kinda hard to explain, it makes sense in my head lol.
I have lots more interesting ones done, I'll post more pictures tonight.

Re: Second SE attempt, minus the crappy fiber.
Here's some more that I've made.
I added the tiniest bit of that synthetic hair stuff to the real KK and I think it looks pretty badass. Couple wiggly ones in there.
There isn't really much of a theme to them, I pretty much adore them though.

Re: Second SE attempt, minus the crappy fiber.
Thanks lady. I seen your instal, they look fantastic on you.
It turned out pretty effing cool!!!
As you can see, it shows up alot in some places and very little in other places, I added two colors in a few of them.

Re: Second SE attempt, minus the crappy fiber.
This is in response to those trying to find the correct fiber. Most packages have 100% Kanekalon written on them, you will also note the description: non- flammable or flame retardant is also on the package.
Packages that simply state 100% Synthetic , also have Yaky written as a description and this fiber is flammable.
Toyokalon & Modlon are also non- flammable fibers however they are more silky in texture when compared to Kanenalon. Kanenalon's texture can range from slightly grainy ( braid hair) to a coarseness comparable to wool ( Marley Braid).
The dreds on this thread is epic!
I have posted pics at fotki, I can't get images to load for me here. At Foki you can see what the actual package should read, regardless of the company, thus empowering you to select the correct hair on your next purchase at the BBS, no uninformed sales persons needed!

If this doesn't work let me know & I'll try again.
