Synthetic naturals... attempted

Post by I Am The Asylum » Sat Jun 11, 2011 11:55 pm

I had a bit of extra kk, so decided to try my hand at some natural looking synthetics. This is my first attempt... so I have no clue if they're any good or not. I know the lengths aren't the same, but I'm not too worried about that.
Do you think I need to seal the ends a bit better, though?

I'm in the same boat as far as knowing about naturals, I've never gotten my hands on any so I have no clue! They look soo pretty though, and I love that color! The waves are gorgeous too ;) Not so sure about the ends, probably could be a bit more sealed but I'll leave that to the experts :P Good job!

im no expert either but i do own a set fro jinx and i think they might need a little bit more backcombing and more palm rolling and a second seal :) but for a first attempt you are doing great.

I been meaning to try to make naturals and even crocheted dreads but i have no time ugh
well good luck with your naturals dear.

they look nice. i would recommend more backcombing. the loops alone look like they might need a bit more from the first picture. some people prefer the loose ends on naturals so i think that choice is yours :) good job!

These looks really great! I love the wavyness of them. Maybe these ends would be fine as they are, I do like the look of when people do those whispy, loose ends. Though they might start coming apart after a bit of wear, hmmm. Oh yeah and the color rocks. :)

Thanks. I think the color is amazing as well. I love it so much. Haha
And I agree about the ends. I think I'll try backcombing, palm rolling and then sealing again

if you have a felting needle you could try felting the bases of the loops if you're having trouble keeping them together, I did and it worked wonders on the ones I'm making :i2:

I decided to take my steamer to these babies.

I think they look much better now. Perhaps I need too use more hair for each dread next time around though.
