Braided faux roving DEs?
Good or bad? What do you think?
I made two sizes, the bigger one was made harlequin style. I used six strips folded in half at the center to create the two ends. The smaller one was made with three strips braided in one go.
Here's the ends. I put clear elastics to keep them from unbraiding.
They're a bit stiff, so I dont think I'd ever make a whole set of falls of just braids, but I think a few would add a nice bit of texture. : D
(This is the smaller braid)

I like it! I never in a million years would have thought that that kitty fleece would make such cool patterns I love the look of braided and felted wool roving but I think it would be very difficult to get the color pattern you got using felted wool roving.
I think you have discovered a cool new style. VixenSingsBlack makes super nice roving and faux roving, check out her posts and website. here is a pic of some of her latest braided roving.

o.o Oh wow. I definitely like the felted roving much better.
it's nice and smooth and has better tips than braided faux roving.

Does anyone have ideas on how to make the ends of the braided material look nicer/more uniform?

I've done braided faux-roving before... But I cannot remember how I secured it at the ends. I may have use a touch of fabric glue to end them, as I recall.Skybluepinky14 wrote:Does anyone have ideas on how to make the ends of the braided material look nicer/more uniform?

That's a good idea. Less likely to break and should be washable.
Have you ever tried to twist faux roving?
It looks pretty nice twisted, but I cant imagine any fast or neat way to make it stay that way. xP

I've tried and tried for candy cane like twists, but always come up as a failure. If you think up some awesome new way to do it, let me know!!Skybluepinky14 wrote:That's a good idea. Less likely to break and should be washable.

Re: Braided faux roving DEs?
I have braided the faux roving that I bought from VSB and I used some thread and just twisted it around and then made a little knot and they look like there is just a loose end to the braid hope this helps.
