installed 2 first sets

Post by PetitPea » Fri Dec 10, 2010 3:35 pm

Heya! I hope this is the right section...

So here are the dreads I've done so far, the first set was done wrong like really really wrong because of the lack of expereince and the fact that i had no steam thing or flat iron. I was backcombing, damping the dread in water, drying it a bit and then sealing it with a hair straightener. The dreads were quite fried and unraveling on some parts here was the result:

(yeah i know, a bit camwhore...)

Anyhow, before going on a trip to Tadjikistan this summer, i made myself another set. This one was properly sealed (using a steam cleaner) in different redish colors using hair from diversity hair. When it was ready, i braided the dread, poored some boiling water, removed the braids and then again poored boiling water, which made them wavy but not too much.
Here's the result:

Never mind the silly face, i was waking up, it was earl and cold and was preparing for several hours of walking... but this pic shows the dreads best. (Funny enough, a lot of people there had never seen dreadlocks, and several offered me a comb, ahah!)

I'm planning to make another set for after christmas, but i would like some feed back on those first , to see what i can improve. I'll try and post better pics of the dreads themselves to see them better.

That's all!

They look great to me! Especially the second set, the color and the slight wave makes them look VERY natural.
Tadjikistan!! cool, I'm jealous.

Not sure if you were going for the natural look or not, but they do look like nice naturals from what I can see.

Thanks!

And yes indeed starlotus, the natural look was what i was going for! Well an intermediate actually, that is why i first sealed them with steam and then used the boiling water.

Thanks a lot! As soon as I'm done with the exam madness of medical studies, I'll try to make some brown to blond net transitional...

They look fun :P but from what I can see of the blonde ones they may need a little extra backcombing.

Wow... You really, REALLY rock that look.

The dreads look good, and super cute!

P.S. I love that up/down do of the first pic or two.. Is there a tutorial on that, or is it easier than it looks?

Hi and thanks!
i just got back to civilisation, i was in holidays!

@Hairlady the first install was made with doctored locks' tut for install on very short hair, and the second was done by my aunt, she simply braided them in.

@mandikat Thanks! The up do is vry simple, i just take different parts of the hair and and roll them at the back of my hair, the result is different each time eheh
