First Set Ever!! (Naturals with a few twisties) Image Heavy!
Hey guys! This is my first ever set and I'd love some critique so I know where to improve!
The colours are Baby Pink, Pink Lilac and Petrol Green.
After a few friends seeing these I've had quite a few requests that I'm doing at cost, so I hope to get some experience from that
I did the first install then moved the top couple and added some single enders so that they would sit flatter.
Dreads on their own:
To give an idea of the length of my natural hair:
After the first install:
After moving a couple (excuse the blurriness, my camera hates night shots):
and this is what it was all for... my unicorn costume for Halloween!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

For a first attempt they look good
But ! You could do with abit more work on backcombing as these are what my first ones were like and I know from my own experiences that naturals take a while to get right as backcombing is key!! I found that my firsts didn't hold up too well like a well made natural would, so just keep backcombing the crap out of it and you'll get it in no time !!

They are, I know they aren't supposed to be that big, but it was the only way I could get them to hold strong enough to be cmfortable. My hair is pretty darn short at the top... like 1 1/2"DreadstarMonstar wrote:Nice colours.

Yeah I thought as much when I was sealing, they looked HUGE then went itty bitty when sealedLove Bunny wrote:For a first attempt they look good

Wow, they look adorable! They look extra soft-looking.. Is that the camera? Otherwise, how did you make them?

They are fairly soft... I back combed, poured boiling water, straightener + wet towel, boiling water, straightener again, then boiling water a couple of times (I was scared they wouldn't seal )mandikat wrote:Wow, they look adorable! mmmmm. the colors are to die for! I think they're excellent for a first set, but as other people have said, a little more backcombing. Naturals take way more than regular dreads because you're not sealing them and smoothing them out like you would with normal ones.
Love the unicorn idea!!

Hi everyone! (new account for some reason... I haven't been on here in a while)
But yeah, since these I've been mainly wearing some black and purple naturals that I knocked up pretty quickly and I backcombed them waaaaaaaay more... I've just taken them out after the third or fourth install and they are still pretty darn sturdy (and I'm harsh on them)
Although seeing this post I kinda want to reinstall these.... they so fooofy
(I've also figured out my camera a bit more now, it was brand new at the time )
