Do roving dreads weigh less than synthetic dreads? Because ive never worn roving, but I just ordered some. And Im wearing some loooong synth dreads that are heavy as sin, and im just curious, hoping it will be lighter.

Yes yes yes, roving dreads are sooooooooooo much softer and lighter than synth dreads. They are much bedier as well so are great to sleep on... with some of my sets in the winter, i make them longer so that I can use them as a scarf if it gets cold and chilly, hope you post piccies when they are installed!!!

Absolutely lighter and softer, and just plain more wonderful in every way! Well, IMO anyways.

Since this is kinda related and the OPs question has already been answered. What is the best way to wash your hair/shower with roving extensions in? I read somewhere that if you try to wash your roots the dreads can start to felt to your hair.

If you've felted your dreads well & firm, then you can soak the lot in the bath.
But drying time can be heavy and looong

But the best method that I suggest, is just cleaning the scalp.
There are a number of oils etc that make good cleaners. (lavender oils, tea tree oil, eucalyptus oil, orange oil)
I create my own scalp cleanser, but using skin toner works well too.

If they are felted well, you can probably just do your roots with diluted shampoo and water from a pitcher. Slow patience means no wet dreads.

I gotta say, as well as wool dreads being loads lighter and cosy to sleep on than synth dreads, i think they're easier to install as well, they just seem to handle better.....imo...I use mine to keep me warm on the cold nights at outdoor parties and festivals and wotnot too! They are a bit of a bugger to dry though, and i always try and dry them as quick as possible as they can get that stagnant water smell - eww!

I was wondering this too.
I'm off to buy my roving next week.
*Spaz*
I'M SO EXCITED!
and this shop that I'm going to do special mixed bags with coordinating colours in it.
Job just got easier lol.

And I hate sleeping on my dreads. T_T I have to use a big pillow so I sink into it.

EEEE.
I cannot wait.

xoxo
