Hi can anyone tell me how the thin to thick thin to thick look is produced all down the wool?

That is a result of core spun yarn. What you're talking about, I think, is Colinette point five or Colinette point zero which is actually yarn. Look here--> http://www.colinette.com/categories/yarns/point-five/ Is this it? Also here's me with an install of Point five on my head. Is this what you're talking about?
