Depends on how well you want them felted, how hot the water is, how good you are at felting and what material you use.
The water should be freshly boiled, allowed to cool as much as you can cope with, and for me I felt my dreads about 4-5 times to ensure fly away roving is felted in.
I have worn less felted dreads from other sellers and have not been impressed when I get fibres stuck on my contact lenses!
