Yes, you can curl them the same as you would curl dreads. If you use kanekalon for the braids, the curls will hold better than with other fibers,

I tried to curl some braids though, and I couldn't work out how to get them in the hot water without potentially scalding myself.

Maybe if you do pre-made braids it would be easier

Yeah, it would probably be easiest to make them like SEs, curl the,, then install. Or use those pre-made hand-tied braids that are already curly.

I used to use these to curl my braids:

I'd take 3-4 braids, wind them around the curler, and plug the curler onto the steaming base. I still have the curlers and sometimes pour steamer from my pressure steamer right into the hole to get dreads.

I've only done it with kanekalon, but it worked pretty well for me. Just remember to let the dreads cool before pulling them out of the curler :)

I have had curly and wavy briads before and both times they were attached to my head - they need to be long enough not to cause any potential scolding problems, but other than that...

To get the crinly effect, briad a fe wtogether, say 9 at a time and dip them for about 5 minutes in a boiled kettle

To get curly braids wrap them around rollers, and dip in a bowl of boiled water for about 5 minutes...

and Taaa-daaa!!!
