no. the only way you'd do any damage is if you do it really really tight and that would really hurt so i'm sure your daughter would let you know!

are you just using her own hair, not adding any extra in?
I know some people are careful when adding in extra hair to children's hair as their folicles may not be as strong.
Regardless if you plait too tightly you can cause stress at the corners of the sections, so be careful not to braid too tight
