this would come unders show off- everything else- there is nothing to stop someone creating thread for it there and I will sticky it for you- no need for a sub section- just keep adding your pics to one thread :)

If someone creates a thread, let me know by PM and I will sticky it :)

Any chance (I'm guessing it's a long shot) of old A&P thread being deleted to stop them from being necroed a year after posting?

I deleted the comments on the thread in question so it's back in the basement where it belongs :)

It's very rare that old sales posts get necro'd, so it's a lot easier and quicker to just delete comments on them when they come up than spend hours locking/deleting all of the old threads. Plus if a seller doesn't send goods or misrepresents an item, it can sometimes be helpful to be able to refer back to the original post.

There is no way I can do that! I don't even know if it possible to have an app for this type of site let alone how you would do it.

I read it just fine on my mobile phone (iphone)- I just access it through google and read it like any normal website- doesn't it show on yours?

I can have a look into this, an initial search would suggest it is possible, although with varied success. Prosilver style can be viewed through some sort of plugin thing we would have to install and run somehow on here. I am not an admin, so don't even know how to go about doing something like that, but if I can get to the bottom of the theoretical understanding and whether it is possible for this board we can maybe have a go.

Bear in mind though that facebook have about 5000000 users and we have 2647, they also have advertisers which give them revenue, we do not, so unless it is easy to do and cheap/free it wouldn't be worth it for this board. I also presume that most of our members would be using a phone as a secondary source of accessing the internet, and so it isn't excluding anyone if we don't do that. To be frank, if facebook weren't doing it there would be something wrong, they are essentially a whole team of web developers who specialise in making the internet accessible, and get paid to find the best solutions for this. The community here is very different and less instant anyway, and as mods and admins we really know most about hair and maybe not so much about web solutions!

I will look into it for you though :D

(Edited to add - when I say I know "most", I mean as in I know more about hair than I do about other things, on a re-read I didn't want it to sound like I was saying I knew more about hair compared with other people, cause this obviously isn't true, or what I wanted to say!)

I can get on here on my phone no problem. My old phone, I could view stuff but couldn't log in as my previous phone was just wap/GPRS or whatever it was called. Now, though I can get on it with ease, my new phone even stores my UN & PW (yes, I have no life beyond HeF!!)

I guess it depends on what kind of phone you have....I know a few girlies that are regulars on the chat thread access the board via their phone.

I too have no problems in viewing this site on my mobile. If Shay has difficulties that is down to the browser her phone uses and the way it displays webpages, not down to the board.

Depending on what platform your phone is running you can try downloading Opera Mini. That should parse this page fine and allow you to zoom out to view the entire site on one screen and then zoom right in to read posts and look at images.

http://www.opera.com/mobile/

This is of course dependant on having a phone that allows you to install applications.

I know I'm late, but for the most part, the default layout loads absolutely fine in Safari on my iPhone 3G. It even loads in regular GSM networks, just slower than 3G.

If you're having trouble with the default layout on your mobile, you might want to try one of the board layouts instead (think they're called subsilver or something). They're a little more bare-bones than the default and might work better.

In the same way that there are individual galleries for sellers [dreads, wigs, etc.], was wondering if there could be a section for people who make other crafty things.

there *could* but that does move away from the purpose of the board- there are specific boards for crafts. We do allow it in off topic general chatter and in show off everything else and in A and P.

I toatlly understand your point but we are not essentially a crafting forum.

I think it would be cool to have an area just for accessories for dreads, wigs, extensions. Just a thought.

Would there be any chance of limiting how many active topics members are allowed in Show Off? Often, members make individual topics for separate products; it pushes less-prolific members off the page and becomes off-putting when the posts are all from the same people.
What, that? It's a spade.

I'd say one a month maybe. we all love show offs but every few days from the same person & sometimes people could be offended if someone comments with a suggestion to do a single "recent work" show off rather than 8 or so separate ones. I used to keep all my images & then do one big show off once I'd amassed a few images (unless making was slow & I only made one set every few months or whatever)

I hadn't got so far but one per month does sound fair. It has bothered me for a long while; I wouldn't want anyone to feel it is specifically about them. Perhaps we could first encourage members to collate their items to show, or to wait until we have pictures of all near-completed items before posting.

I definitely think that those of us running businesses, and therefore churning out more products than the average DIYing member, need to make sure Show Off is inclusive of everyone. We do, after all, have the Individual Galleries where we can uplad as many images as we wish of our work.
What, that? It's a spade.

Is there any word yet on the limited posts in show off idea?

I realise it may be a personal thing but it's a little choked up in there again at the moment and I find it very off-putting.
