Peacock dreads

Post by Librarynerd » Mon Apr 11, 2011 12:14 am

I've been working on making blends and making thicker dreads. What do you think of the color balance? Too many colors? Too much/little of one color?

oooh those are beautiful! I was about to say "add some green!" then I realised the picture had been cut off for me, I can see like half of one green dread
I've seen a lot of people try the whole peacock thing, whether its dreads or hair dye or painting or whatever, but you did it really well! If you're going for identical to an actual peacock, maybe a bit less red, and maybe some darker blues added in would look nice, like a dark navy blue/indigo color. Unless you already have that and I can't see >.< But they look lovely as is, I'm jealous of your skillz.. :D three thumbs up!

I agree with the less red, and maybe some more blue if you're going for a more realistic looking peacock, but they look wonderful! The greens and blues make my mouth water! I love the colors that you picked for this!

Gorgeous dreads i really like it. The only thing i would say is i think you need to blend a little more. it kinda looks candycane-ish (sorry if thats what your going for!) but it could get to the stage where yo dont see the different colours in the dreads. :)

Thats a crazy mix :) They all look great, but like others said i'd make less reds. Would be great to see what they look like installed though.
I love all the dreads to the left of the reds :D

They look great, gorgeous blends. I like that some of them have a more chunky blend to them, it makes the colours pop on the others. In terms of the colours, I'd be inclined to take the greens out but I do have a thing for red and purple. Otherwise I would take out the red, as others are saying, especially as you aregoing for a peacock theme. Nice work.
What, that? It's a spade.

Erm....

YUMMY

Edit! I couldnt see the green, I think although peacocks do have much green, the set matches better to the red than the green.

I agree, actually, it looks really really nice with the red and blue and purple and the blends between them.. you should rename it the eclectus set  with the green cut off, it looks just like this:

edited to add:
Someone needs to do a line of sets modeled after exotic birds. I think I'm gonna have to. I was thinking to do some fruit themed ones but now a million birds are popping into my head!

Lol, first thought... "I thought peacocks had a pretty green in them"

Very very lovely! I'd say keep the red if you like it, you can be a unique peacock ;)

Thanks for all the great feedback!
I think I'm going to omit the red and use them for another set. I just love this silky red Kikko brand kk I got from IKS so much I'm tempted to use it in EVERYTHING. Got some new Orchid(god it is gorgeous!) and Periwinkle KK from IKS, might take out the red and add some blends of that with the Navy blue and some more green/blue blends and try some splashed dreads and wraps too.

I love the idea of eclectus parrot themed dreads. Ohhh! or maybe a wig with one side female eclectus and the other male.
I'm really going nuts with the color after making so many natural toned dreads and wigs :i9:

Again, I really appreciate the thoughtful feedback I get here at HEF.

They're lovely, I like how no two look the same blend. The only bit I'm not fond of is the red/blue blend, but thats just a personal thing... And yes, red isn't strictly peacock, but I think it really works here. =)

^^ agreed, the whole set has a really pretty red/purple tint to it, I wouldn't change it just for the sake of looking identical to a peacock unless it was for a customer or something. I was just making suggestions if it HAD to look identical  The red looks yummy :D
