Fun things I have been working on
Hello
Just wanted to show off some things I've been working on lately. I am totally addicted to making these things, they are so fun!
Power-up mushroom charm:
Bob-omb charm:
And here's an "action shot" of the charms on my purse. The green 1-up mushroom is the charm I actually made for myself to keep on my purse, the other 2 are just on there for the photo to show a relative size and stuff.
All the charms are 3x3 inches and are hanging from a 3 inch long attachment so you can fasten them to a purse or backpack or hang them from the rearview mirror in your car.
I don't know, I think they are cool and fun but I'm a big geek. lol. What do you think?
For anyone who is interested, you can find these items at http://www.thegeekshack.etsy.com

I love them! I used to make things like that all the time, but I don't have an iron right now, so I can't.

I wish that time would stand still,
if this was part of a film
we would watch the clip all day,
like a portrait of you and I...

Re: Fun things I have been working on
Thanks to everyone for the comments!
I used to make these things all the time when I was a kid too and then didn't touch them or think about them for years. I used to think you could never make anything good with them until I learned how to crochet. I made some crochet and needlepoint patterns from old game sprites and then a whole new world of geeky crafts opened up! lol.
Angelaar - You can get them from craft/hobby stores, they are usually in the kids section. I find that most craft and hobby stores only have a very limited selection of colours and they always seem to come in mixed bags so you have to sort them out into their respective colour piles. There are a few online resellers that are good and sell bags of individual colours. If you live in the U.S. you can get them from www.perlerbeads.com (they only ship within the U.S.) and everyone else can get them from www.koolstuff4kids.com (they ship worldwide). There are also a few ebay stores that are really good. Do a search for 'perler beads' or 'fuse beads'.
co0kie_x - I absolutely do custom work. I just finished a custom piece for someone who drives an ambulance, it was his paramedic symbol with his badge number underneath. It was really cool.
Madii - I have definitely used the spriter's resource before! I was using sprites that I got from the site to make patterns for crochet scarves and that's how I got into making the bead charms. You use the same type of pattern for beading, crochet and needlepoint, it's really neat!

To begin with, a dog is not mad. you see a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I am mad.

Oh man, I just made one of those with my little cousins the other day. It was really fun, although I kept screwing it up with my big dumb fingers. Yours are amazing!

It's been a while since I made any scarves but if I can scare up a few pics, I'll post them for you to see. Winter is on it's way though, I'd better make some more!Madii wrote:Crochet scarves?
