Most beautiful necklace i've ever bought - abit NWS

Post by fröst » Wed Apr 07, 2010 9:57 pm

This is pretty well the only piece of jewelry I've bought and spent abit of money on. And it was worth every penny! I saw it on etsy and HAD to buy it! Its a rabbit skull animal totem necklace. Made out of strips of leather, chinese coins, a vintage key, wing charms, feather charms, beads, store bought feathers (wish it wasnt store bought though, can be replaced if i find something out in the woods), an elk tooth, fish vertebre, bee charm, afew little odds and ends and a beautiful rabbit skull (with some strings of brain matter still left haha). I love this, most deffinetly not a thing to wear daily because of how fragile it is so I have it hanging up most of the time in my room. Plus I cant wait to add to it with little things I find walking around in the woods.
This is what the seller sent with the necklace:
Positive Anticipation Rabbit Totem Necklace
Rabbit: The rabbit totem is an instrument of magic and good luck. Her gifts are spontaneity, alacrity and agility. Likewise, her path guides us to go forward with positive anticipation, for rabbit brings success to all endeavors. Rabbit is also a symbol of reproduction and abundance. The lesson is to create joy and faithfulness within our friendships. Finally, rabbit teaches us to overcome our fears as we take a conscious leap into new territory.

The day I got it I had to do a sort of mini shoot, to send the seller pictures. So this is what I did, a sort of shaman type of look.

Onto pictures! I hope they dont turn out too big.

Note: I also took apart my dreads at the end of january, I like this much better. :)

Gorgeous!!! I think it's a mink skull or some other member of the weasel family. Defiantly not cat, opposum or raccoon.Dog skulls are EXTREMELY variable in shape and size but it could be a very small long nosed breed. I collect skulls, don't have any weasels yet!

Yup, I'd lay down the big bucks for that piece too:)

as gorgeous as that is! you have to be extreamly careful if the brainmatter is still sttached, it could be covered in bacterial still that can make you very sick! you have to be careful with bones especially if they still have the grave wax on them, could be ridden with paricites and what not. which is why its alwasy safest to bleach it first or clean the shit right out of it, scrub it to death.

I have a bone collection too :) I have a bear vertibrea I found in zee woods. magnificent.

I was doing a bleaching/cleaning of a raccoon skull my boyfriend gave me (sweet gift!) I decided that i may as well detatch the rabbit skull and give it a cleaning too. So no more brainmatter for me. hahaha :P

The sellers name is Marilyn Hammer her shops name is Marilyn's Manifest. She also has a facebook under her name where you can check out all of her past and present creations. She's too amazing at what she does.

Go for it, taking walks in the woods or even graveyards you find loads of bones and things that can be used to make very beautiul primitive jewelry. Marilyn's inspired me to do the same. :D
